Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham Asylum was one of the best-reviewed games of 2009. It garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success, prompting the inevitable sequel.

Some details on the follow-up have now surfaced in the form of a myriad of domain name registrations. Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive, which acquired a controlling interest in Rocksteady in February, has binged on Batman-themed domain names according to freelance Internet sleuther Superannuation. Some 15 unique URLs were registered on July 7, and all of them are related to the Batman lexicon.

The domain name registries include:

In other Caped Crusader news, a Game of the Year edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum went on sale in early May for the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3. It is bundled with 3D glasses--and supports stereoscopic 3D that doesn't require a 3D HDTV--and contains four challenge maps previously released as downloadable content.

Batman: Arkham Asylum has sold over 3 million units to date and has netted various game awards, including Best Game Design at the 2010 Game Developer's Choice Awards. For more on the sequel, check out the teaser trailer embedded below. And for more on the original, check out GameSpot's review.
