Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock shredding 90+ tracks, new guitar
Black Sabbath, Queen, ZZ Top, more lead set list for Activision, Neversoft's rock-heavy rhythm game, due Sept. on 360, PS3, Wii.
Word on Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock has been dribbling out since the beginning of last week, when a listing for the game was spotted in online retailers' databases. Activision, Neversoft, and Vicarious Visions' latest rhythm rocker subsequently received a formal reveal in Nintendo Power magazine. And just in case that wasn't official enough, Activision today announced Warriors of Rock will arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii this September.
In terms of new information, Activision offered a first glimpse at the game's on-disc tracklist. Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock will include more than 90 tracks on disc, and gamers can also download some 500 songs from the Guitar Hero Music Library. Of note, Warriors of Rock features an original track from Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, titled "Sudden Death."
Other rock greats slated to appear include Black Sabbath, Queen, Def Leppard, The Rolling Stones, and ZZ Top, and Warriors of Rock will include a mix of live and studio recordings. A full list of tracks thus far announced for the game can be found below.
Additionally, Activision said today that Warriors of Rock will ship with a new guitar controller inspired by the game's art style and "specifically made for shredding." The publisher offered no additional details (or images) of the new peripheral.
As previously detailed by Nintendo Power, Neversoft will be developing the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of the game, with Vicarious Visions taking its cues from the developer for the Wii installment. Hard rock will be the emphasis of this year's title--one of only two rhythm games from Activision this year--and the studio has underlined this point by signing on Kiss frontman Gene Simmons to serve as narrator for the game's story mode.
