Red Dead Redemption co-op DLC releasing June 22

Rockstar will be releasing the free, co-op-orientated Outlaws to the End DLC for the open-world Western epic later this month.

The promised co-op patch for Rockstar's hit Western Red Dead Redemption will be released worldwide June 22 on Xbox Live and a day later, June 23, on the PlayStation Network. Outlaws to the End will add six co-op missions for up to four players, alongside more co-op challenges, extra multiplayer XP rewards, and additional trophies and achievements.

Three of the six missions have already been announced. Walton's Gold has your posse ploughing through a gold camp and loading up your mine cart with as much loot as possible before the place explodes. The River has your team taking out rebel encampments while on a raft heading downstream. Ammunition has your gang taking back the town of Tesoro Azul from the Mexican army. Rockstar will announce details of the other missions at a later date.

The game currently has support for competitive multiplayer modes, although some users have been experiencing problems connecting to the online portion of the game. Rockstar is looking to put out a patch for this and some other issues before the end of next week. As an apology to customers over the matter, Rockstar will release the Expert Hunter and Savvy Merchant outfits and challenges free of charge in the summer, according to a blog post from the developer.

Red Dead Redemption has already become a global best-seller, securing the position of eleventh biggest first week in the history of the UK all-formats chart. The critically acclaimed open-world game is set in the twilight days of the Old West and sees players take the role of former outlaw John Marston as he clings to the old ways in a world changing around him.

Rockstar know how treat his customers, instead of charge people for any single add-on they give it for free, Activision should learn a bit from this guys because no matter if MW2 online has a lot of issues they still charging people without any regrets

Free! Other game publishers should take notice, you don't have to charge for every bit of extra content you add on to a game! Go Rockstar!

@katanajut Lol only the Expert Hunter and Sawy Merchant outfits and challenges are free cause of the online problems, not the co-op add-on.

@Gelugon_baat: Thank you so much for that response. It always puzzled me, and I had no idea Valve had struck a deal with EA for the game. It's certainly not well advertised. I went to the site to look for certain and found there's an EA logo at the bottom of the page. Another reason to hate EA, I guess. To everyone else who answered, I am aware of Valve's free DLC policy, which is why I mentioned that they would not "let" Valve release it free on 360. So are there any limitations to Gamerscore on free DLC? I know all games are required to have 1k points, no more no less.

oh and to the question what happened to splitscreen games. they don't exist anymore because games are too complex (graphics and engines). splitscreen would bring down the quality massively. so they focus on online multiplayer which most people have anyways today

I'm Glad That There're Fixing Multiplayer. I'm Tired Of Constantly Getting Kicked Off Games And Stuck Seeing The Free Roam Loading Screen Or/And Just Playing Free Roam Modes.

i cant download the gentleman's attire suit. i log in in-game, save, and get nothing. apart from that and a few weird graphical glitches, this one of the best games i have ever played. it looks gorgeous and the story is original for a video game. i mean how many times have you herded cattle in a game?

I have the game for the PS3 and for me at least it has been the most stable online experience I have ever had (honestly......ever!). No hint at lag and no disconnects - I have 30mb broadband and got it a week after launch - both of which may explain why, anyway based on some of the comments I guess im lucky.

For the first few days, the multiplayer public free roam was VERY unstable.
However, after maybe a week, it became very solid, and now I rarely have any problems. Overall very good

There only one issue I've noticed so far about RDR, and that freezing which maybe only happens 1-2 times in the game. Everything else hasn't happen to me yet, but if it there? It needs to be fixed.

The Playstation Network updates on Thursdays, and Xbox Live updates on Tuesdays. It's not a matter of the time that rockstar needs to create it.

Great game rockstar! Although i havent experienced any connection problems like being kicked or whatever i have found that its really hard to find a game with lots of people so i cant wait for the patch!

  • Dominicobaggio

    Posted Jun 6, 2010 3:05 am GMT

Not bothered but just confused as to why it takes an extra day to get this to ps3?

I mean i could understand an extra month more if they couldnt make it a day sounds as though its on purpose...

But meh, good game i love it well done rockstar i knew you would do it I even bought shares :p

Fix the glitches and the connection problems or the add-ons won't mean squat.

Nice of rockstar to give us this stuff for free, but i need that patch. I can never find anyone in the online component, but freeroaming still is quite enjoyable by yourself.

  • CruiserCaptain

    Posted Jun 5, 2010 6:26 pm GMT

Although I know this may not help a lot of people, there is a well functioning LAN line option if you have the chance. It's nice because few games offer it. It has help us over come the frustration of being dropped all the time (until the patch is released) and all the stat building and character advancement available in freeroam is still there in LAN play.

I hope they fix the multiplayer servers, I have a 32 megabit/sec internet speed and it's still kicking me out of multiplayer matches over connection issues, and half the time it does that the game glitches and I get stuck in the load screen. Happens to my friends a lot too. That would be great if they fixed it too because the multiplayer is a lot of fun to play.

I know how you feel, mine gave out just before uncharted 2 came out. Also this is one of the best things they could've done, just take a look, imsterminate is buying the game just because of free dlc and people are throwing away mw2 just because of its dlc.
