First Crysis 2 Screens

Crytek goes from the jungle to the streets of New York in these first images of Crysis 2.

There aren't a whole lot of games out there that will generate much excitement over a pair of screenshots, but Crysis 2 is certainly one of the select few. The original Crysis (released in 2007) earned a reputation for stellar visuals that very few PCs could actually run at the highest settings, and it still seems like you need to time travel into the future to obtain a machine capable of running it at its prettiest. The sequel moves the action from the jungle to the streets of New York City, and to showcase the new urban setting, EA recently sent over the first pair of screens from the game. Have a look below and feel free to click this link to view the screens at full size:

just wondering are they going to fully support dx11, I mean "Tessellation" option? than, it would worth buying some hd 5870.

i don't really think this game is gonna be hard on your computer, if consoles can handle it no problem for PC. I wont need no upgrade. Game looks good so far..

If Crytek pay a little more attention on the story, it will be great. And about the graphics - get ready for upgrade guys !

    LorDofGod:

    German? Isn't crytek turkish?

Anyways I'm not convinced by these images, it could and most probably is hoaxed.

  • kilirm

    Posted Mar 11, 2010 9:13 am GMT

Gameplay of crysis one wasn't in anyways mediocre, the problem is no one could run it smooth enough at ultra high to see how fluid the shooting was. The AI is a friggin joke though.

  • kilirm

    Posted Mar 11, 2010 9:11 am GMT

This one will be greatly inferior graphic wise as they are dumbing down the engine to run on a console... Those screeshots are pure hoax, as we seen in the first hype videos of crysis 1.

hmmmmmmmmmmm, that's game was the legend, and i'm sure it will be another legend in Crysis 2

  • j_dean

    Posted Mar 10, 2010 4:32 am GMT

@ashleyobrien - you're absolutely right... Except for the part where you're completely missing the point! Yes, the engine will run, bug-free, on current systems BUT with the graphical properties throttled back - people are looking to the future for hardware that can run the game at useable framerates with all the graphical enhancements ON... Oh, and game devs often get hardware ahead of commercial release for QA purposes, so designing a game that "will only run on next-gen hardware" is actually possible, albeit unlikely...

Geez. Crysis 2! One of the best games I have EVER played. And still replay it over and over til this day. Pretty much every time I upgrade my graphics card.
Also, Dead Space. Another of my all time faves.

    Posted Mar 10, 2010 2:31 am GMT

unbelievable...for gods sakes you lot, core duo/quad is gonna be perfectly ok for crysis2....the real stumbling block is that thing that throws those pixels around-crysis2 is basically a done deal..what I mean is the code is already WRITTEN,got it? which means it is optimised for CURRENT hardware..why?well because all the Q.A staff will be USING current hardware....all this bollocks about withholding release untill next gen hardware is released is just wrong...how long do you honestly think they spend on Q.A assurance? 6 monthsto a year minimum, ironing out bugs, slight metc etc, things just dont move that fast in the corporate world...not when theres such a huge investment at stake-they cross the t's and dot the i's, then they do it again and again, next ten poster's guess what the Crytek GmbH projected sales are...I'd like to know/gauge just how naieve some of you are...

I can play Crysis on max graphics, highest resolution with no lag or delay at all, so I can probably handle this one as well

  • Energycell_81

    Posted Mar 10, 2010 12:08 am GMT

It will be a very demanding game and they are delaying the release because of that. IMHO there is no system yet to run this game at full details. I've seen I3-I5-I7 CPUs at work and I'm not so pleased with them and I really think that only Sandy Bridge will be optimal CPU for this game. As for graphic card I bet on nVidia FERMI based GPUs but not GTX 4xx series, I'm pretty sure that at the begining of 2011 a new "upgrade" of fermi will be release and will handle this game just fine.

People, people, Crysis 2 will not be very hard on your PC at all. Why you ask becouse it's also being developed for consoles. This means it will be nothing ground breaking in terms of graphics. Though at the speed Crytek works at, it could be developed with next gen console(of wich will use DX11) in mind and in that case yes our pcs may need an upgrade.

Not to say it will be a bad game, just nothing a high end pc could not handle at max settings. If you look at current games out for the pc, about 95% are also on a console and my pc runs them all no problem. This was not the case 5 years ago when pc games looked 10 times better than the console and made pc gaming something special.

Yeah, to be honest this new Nanosuit only has very few minor upgrades compared to the previous. Nothing wrong, just hoping for a better and cooler look.

to "the jammin"...ok here's the deal, I dont eat cornflakes for breakfast, and secondly, yeah they might taste better if ya weed on them, but I digress. look, when I said I upgraded etc etc, I did it for crysis, and warhead, and I play those at 1920x1200 smooth as, if my watercooled E8400 dont cut it, I can always go Q9650. around that level the cpu isnt going to be bottleneck-no matter what anyone says. and I think crysis 2 will be sli capable,if not patches will deal with that, sure, I wont have Dx11 etc etc, but I still think it will be "good enuf"..point is. I got those extra 2 GTX280's for peanuts, so why not? some screens the diff between dx9 and dx10 (crysis) was miniscule...so what is dx11 really gonna look like, we dont really know yet, do we? I'm quietly confident that crytek learnt their lesson with crysis (hey warhead plays MUCH better) and my core components will be ok, there's alot of those team-green cards out there dude...I have 40(yes thats right,40) 5mg methadone tablets for brekky, the little white ones.

@ Tahir_Ahmad and to those who thumb me down

I dunno what you are saying? I'm not mentioning about any benchmark or something? And i do love Crysis because it set high standards in terms of graphics. I'm just saying that the pictures above are not gameplay shots, their edited, look closely please... And i have a very slow computer sorry, i have GTX280 and an i7 processor, so i guess i need more upgrade in my computer sorry!?

Can't wait till Crysis 2. I have a 2 gig Video card from with Nvidia software. 8 gigs of memory & Dx11. I used to have problems running on my old 512mb card. Now it runs flawlessly. I bought this super card from Tiger Direct for $100. It's a sparkle Geforce 9600. Although there are far more superior cards out there, it gets the job done. I still believe there is much life left for this franchise. Can't wait to see what's in store in the future game.

WAKE UP ! Talk some sense into yourselves!!! Real CRYSIS fans , (I'm not talking about those monkeys who are drulling on this post) don't wanna see a CRYSIS game moved into a city.

I swear the first Crysis was meant to run on a console thats why no pc's could run it full tilt, no gaming franchise would produce a product that the end user couldnt take advantage of.

New York needs to have a rest from all of it's superheros and supernatural monsters and special force units. The First two games were good. Lets hope this puppy is a mind blower and exceeds expectations. Hopefully this Crysis 2 will get a few more of those anti-crysis type on the ban wagon. I CAN"T WAIT FOR IT'S RELEASE!

    @ashleyobrien

ok, so, you paired a dual core cpu with 3 graphics cards - even with the e8400 that's a problem. I wouldn't do that with my 4ghz q9550! - Mistake number one

you bought three graphics cards - over up to date hardware such as i5/i7 - mistake number 2

and your graphics cards don't support shader model 5 and dx11, everything crysis 2 supports! - mistake number 3.

so if you have upgraded just for crysis 2.... mistake.

Sorry to piss on your cornflakes mate.
