Forza 3 takes 2 millionth sales lap

Turn 10's latest Xbox 360-exclusive racer goes double-platinum as Nurburgring downloadable track pack arrives on Live Marketplace.

Released last October, Forza Motorsport 3 has barely been out long enough to lose "that new car smell." Despite that, the Xbox 360-exclusive Turn 10-developed racing game has sold more than 2 million copies, Microsoft said today.

When any ride gets that many miles on it, it's probably a good time for a tune-up. Microsoft is giving Forza 3 exactly that today, as the publisher has released the Nurburgring Grand Prix Circuit Track Pack for the game on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Available for 400 Microsoft points ($5), the track pack includes two new layouts of the famed German raceway: the full 3.22-mile track and a 2.24-mile sprint circuit.

Even before players start tacking on downloadable content packs, Forza Motorsport 3 features more than 400 different cars and 100 track variations. It also boasts a full-featured car customization tool that allows players to create and sell (for in-game currency) their own designs. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's video review below.

    Even though I believe tracks should be free, a nice DLC for a decent price.

    as for the forza gt5 sales comparisons i think gt5 will sell better if ever it comes out else it will be very embarrassing for sony and PD,
    funny gt5 is actually gt9 (9th game in the series) and people compare its sales to forza3, 9th game that's a lot o time to build a fanbase

    Like other posters here I am expecting big things from GT5 - however Forza 3 is a great game and is certainly setting the standard for GT5 to live up to!

    It is just like xbox, when PS3 is not out yet, you need something to play around then toss. Forza is exactly that, superior than NFS and inferior to GT.

    Forza 3 is here and now! and it rock my socks off
    Best driving sim to date...nothing even comes close

    Wtf are you guys on? Forza 2 beats the crap out of Forza 3 in just about every way. I will NEVER forgive Turn 10.

    Based on previous sales of GT games then yes I imagine it will. You might have read that the GT series recently hit 55 million sales to date. Let me know when Forza overtakes it.

    Lol @ comments saying how GT5 will pwn Forza in sells and stuff. Really people? They cant even have a forza article have something, but just have to mention this, probably cant take it Forza 3 sold 2m which still means alot of sells.

    The latest DLC of the 'Ring is very meh. Doesn't connect to the existing 'Ring and no online hoppers for it. It's really for super fans only.

    To anyone on the fence about this one just go out and buy it already! Besides GT5 is rumored to be released in the fall now you'll have plenty of time to play both.

    This really is a great game. Immersive if you want it to be, but still great if you only have time to pick up a few quick races.

    I haven't had this much fun with a racing sim in a while; grats Turn10!

    very good for a racing game at least your considered as rank 1 now but GT is still the reigning champ. screw NFS!

    Cool, 2Milion for one game is pretty sweet. I haven't bought it, but I am planing to get it when I have time.

    Turn 10 has really earned that achievement, Forza 3 is really the game they should have made in the first place but I'm proud of their history

    By the time GT5 comes out we will be playing Forza 4. Just wish my G25 wheel that is still sitting for GT5 would work on my Forza 3. The only good I can see is that by the time GT5 does come out we should be getting bored with Forza. Of course it will have sold 4 million copies by then, perhaps. Only time will tell.

    Congrats Turn 10. 2 million sales is nothing to scoff at, especially for a racer which doesn't involve the words "gran" and "turismo".

    Forza 3 is one of the greatest racing games I've ever played, especially when played with the 360 wheel. This game has awesome handling, great graphics, and amazing customization options. I personally think that everybody who loves racing games and has an Xbox should buy this game.

    Also, this game goes on sale occasionally at various stores for $40. Just so everybody knows...

    @drangel_jam Man, that stinks...I really don't see how they could mess up like that. Forza 3 is a great game so I would wait for a really good deal somewhere.

    I'm really pissed at Best Buy. I order the game online, they send it to an old address, it completely gets lost in translation. I ain't paying twice for this game, sorry. I did for Tekken 6, because it was under the same order, and it turned out to be very disappointing to say the least. Worst of all, magically, the third game--Borderlans--under the same order had the correct address and it was shipped to my then current address.
