Lego Star Wars III waging Clone Wars this fall

Traveller's Tales reteaming with LucasArts on building-block parody of cartoon on 360, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS, PC.

Traveller's Tales has no shortage of pop-culture icons to remix with its comical Lego-themed games, with recent examples ranging from Indiana Jones to Batman. Today, LucasArts and the Warner Bros.-owned development studio announced that they would be returning to the franchise that launched the line of games with Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

Like last year's critically lambasted Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is situated around the events depicted in both seasons of the animated TV series. Traveller's Tales will be hoping for a better reception for its action platformer, which will give the Cartoon Network series' characters the same blocky makeover as in prior Lego games.

As for new features, Traveller's Tales will introduce new battle modes with Lego Star Wars III, including close-encounter combat techniques and the ability to build customized bases and redoubts. Gamers can take the side of either a Jedi or a Separatist, each of which comes with its own special abilities.

Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, DS, and PC this fall. The game will be preceded by Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4, which is set to arrive for the same platforms in May. For a look at the last Lego Star Wars game, 2007's Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, check out the video below.

Well, they're beating this franchise(s) to death. ENOUGH Lego / SW already!

Clone wars show isn't that bad, I basically watch it only because its canon and it provides insight to the wars. That being said I have never even touched a lego game ( not even the free indiana jones one that came with the elite). Many of these big licenses make enough shovelware already, I don't need to play lego versions of it. (ex:nearly all star wars games besides kotor, unleashed, and some battlefronts are terrible wastes of time and money imo)

well said!! Where is our battlefront3!?!?! You guys asking who buys all these Lego games when you've got kids aged about 4+ you'd better hope these are still about cause I've never seen a game that's able to keep kids that quiet. From a gamers point of view a bit repetitive but not bad I actually enjoyed lego batman ( don't worry arkham asylum I still love you more)

I dunno, Lego Star Wars was pretty okay. The Clone Wars games haven't been exactly "good". The mix doesn't look good, but they've had this long to improve the game, I hope it turns out okay

I never had a problem with the Lego Star Wars, Lego Batman, or Lego Indiana Jones titles. It's just that now the market is saturated with them, as much as we all hate to hear that term. Rock Band, Harry Potter... soon, nothing will be without a Lego clone.

I accepted a little while ago that Star Wars isn't being made for me anymore. The thing is, I'm actually totally okay with that. I'm sure that kids will love this, as they undoubtedly love the television show. People need to be less cynical about this.

Wow... Lego Harry Potter, and now this??? A Lego Star Wars: The Old Republic would be better...

Why not Lego Star Wars: Battlefront? (Sound dumb, but at least it's different than other Lego titles...)

I heard there makeing five seasons from star wars the clone wars. they should have waited a little and also star wars the force unleashed 2 is coming out. this game will only be cool if they had lego star wars the force unleashed as a bonus chapter and will cover the first game and the second game which will come out in fall and to unlock it, you have to beat all the levels on lego star wars 3 the clone wars. I mean its going to be a short game if they want to cover the first two seasons of the clone wars.

OKAY OKAY OKAY, IT WAS FUNNY THE FIRST TIME! It was kinda funny the second time, acceptable the third, but now that they've made Indiana Jones, Batman, Harry Potter, and this coming bs (including NyGin07's idea, probably gonna happen) now it's gotta f'ing stop, it's becoming a franchise like the guitar hero games, it's not fun anymore, it's a waste of time and a waste of my GameSpot news!

Awesome. I love the lego series. totally digging the new feature of building your own base in the game. Might not be quit as cool as building something out of real legos but is a way sweet idea. keep em comin travellers tales, one can never have too much lego's, or star wars for that matter.

Cool stuff, I loved the first two Star Wars Lego games. A little short but have a lot of replay ability.
I would also love to see a Star Wars Battlefront 3, but since Free Radical closed down, as did Pandemic studio's I highly doubt we get a new Battlefront game anytime soon.
