Traveller's Tales has no shortage of pop-culture icons to remix with its comical Lego-themed games, with recent examples ranging from Indiana Jones to Batman. Today, LucasArts and the Warner Bros.-owned development studio announced that they would be returning to the franchise that launched the line of games with Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

The Clone Wars' wooden dialogue should make the transition to Lego blocks pretty smooth.

Like last year's critically lambasted Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is situated around the events depicted in both seasons of the animated TV series. Traveller's Tales will be hoping for a better reception for its action platformer, which will give the Cartoon Network series' characters the same blocky makeover as in prior Lego games.

As for new features, Traveller's Tales will introduce new battle modes with Lego Star Wars III, including close-encounter combat techniques and the ability to build customized bases and redoubts. Gamers can take the side of either a Jedi or a Separatist, each of which comes with its own special abilities.

Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, DS, and PC this fall. The game will be preceded by Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4, which is set to arrive for the same platforms in May.
