Red Dead Redemption saddles up April 27

Rockstar San Diego nails down an exact release date in latest trailer for Xbox 360, PS3 Western shooter; UK launch set for April 30.

Last week, Rockstar San Diego narrowed down an April release window for its upcoming Red Dead Redemption and teased a new trailer. That trailer debuted today and gave gamers not just a closer look at the game and the story behind it, but also an exact release date of April 27.

Billed as a follow-up to Revolver, Redemption takes place several years after the events in the original, closer to the turn of the century. Central to the events is John Marston, a former outlaw caught up in the uncertain times created by the industrial age encroaching on the American frontier.

Red Dead Redemption will be powered by Rockstar's proprietary RAGE engine, better known as the game tool behind Grand Theft Auto IV. Like its top-rated sibling, Redemption offers an open-world environment in which players can explore the vast regions of the West, from rolling grasslands to frontier towns. The third-person action title will also feature its fair share of action, including both mano-a-mano gunfights and larger battles.

    This game is looking to be so hot. just wondering how much of the cine in the trailers is real ingame motion and how much is not. an open ended wild west, cant wait, RS will do this justice with RAGE backing it up. this will be a for sure midnight purchase imo.

    I been waiting for a good western game. This looks like the kind of game that other video game developers will look to replicate. I hope it has saloon settings and you customize your guy out in nice gear.

    Sweet trailer. Good game. Hope they make PC port. Would be even sweeter and greater. I agree with some other folks on here; not too many western-themed games out there, hope this one sets the bar on Everest.

    Wujuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu a different game guys you need buy this game common everybody Rockstar is one of the better companies now in the game marketing and why ? because they think different not in copy a history about Americans killing Russians sorry but is the true sometimes you need change your clothes..But i said always this is my opinion can not be your opinion you think different than me so just keep tracking this video game..And everybody enjoy the life we have 2 more years to enjoy it lol 2012 everything change lol

    Sweet, been looking forward to this ever since playing the original on PS2. Not enough good wild west games in my opinion, so hopefully this one will fill the void on this generation of consoles. Can't wait : )

    Good to know the game has a on-point release date. looking forward to buying the game being as how GTA4 was a great game.

    Now if only Rockstar would mention something about the other game they were working on (and is still on their website) L.A. Noire. and maybe the sequel to bully.

    been wondering when this game was coming out, its been some time since they last teased us with this game before. Looks good and quite promising. I'll have to wait and see what happens when its closer to the release date.
