Silent Hill spooks Wii Dec. 8

Konami remake of survival horror franchise's original outing gets a release date; PS2 and PSP versions "following shortly."

Konami is making noise about the latest Silent Hill today. The company confirmed that the latest installment in the survival horror series, Shattered Memories, will launch on the Wii on December 8. PlayStation 2 and PSP gamers eager to get their hands on the title will have to wait a bit longer, with the publisher promising only that it would be "following shortly."

Calling Silent Hill: Shattered Memories a reimagining rather than a remake, Konami said that the game will again follow Harry Mason as he searches the eerie town of Silent Hill in an effort to find his daughter. However, Shattered Memories will offer a number of new wrinkles to the original, with Konami promising "an interactive user interface" as well as a revamped puzzle system.

With 2008's Silent Hill: Homecoming released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Konami noted that Shattered Memories will be the first installment in the series released for the Wii. The Nintendo edition will support the Wii Remote's motion-sensing capabilities, with players using the controller as a stand-in for a flashlight and cell phone, which aid them in finding clues.

Even a sub-par Silent Hill is better than most mass-produced games shoveled out the door at Christmas...

Umm this game would be great to add to the collection, but is this it... I mean what other games are in Nintendo's line-up besides this? I'm sorry but this isn't going to cut it for Nintendo at all, they'd better step up their game plans or there's gonna be hopeless amounts of Wii's on Ebay pretty soon.

I find it strange when some people say that Playstation made this series popular because im pretty sure that it is the other way round.
Silent Hill was one of many reasons that made PS the phenomenon it became and now it will help the Wii get more respect from these negative internet nerds that are brainwashing people to believe the Wii has barely any good games(which is wrong and easy to prove wrong by anybody who knows how to search)...To bad its gone so far that now nobody even gets a chance to be listened to.

Since PS2 MADE this franchise what it is today, it's a bit of a snub to release the Wii-nie version before xmas this year and force PS2 to wait until next January.

Umm... to the comment about Dead Space on the wii being a flop:

I think it's far from a flop--absolutely awesome game-- just not many people have played it so far for some reason.

NuKkU: i love it how all the wii games are also going to the PS2 and PSP

Yeah, Konami knows that mature rated games released for the Wii usually fail miserably. PS made Silent Hill a successful franchise, thus...

Hmmm, you know I was just at gamestop talking about how the wii is irrelevant because it's not even a "next gen" console. It has the game equivilent of a ps2 with flashy motion controls (which wont matter once ps3's controller and Natal come out anyway) **** the wii, I only have mine to play brawl... lol which doesn't even use the wii-mote.

Calling this a remake is kind of an oxymoron. If they were going to rewrite one of the greatest horror games ever made why not make it a completely different Silent Hill game and story. This angers fans of the first Silent Hill and confuses people new to the series.
