God of War III gets $100 Ultimate Edition

Series retrospective, art book, soundtrack, metal album, exclusive in-game combat arena, and character skin for Kratos to come packed in Pandora's Box.

In Greek mythology, Pandora's Box was a vessel, which, when first opened, unleashed all manner of evil and suffering on the world. Now, Sony has chosen the relic as the ideal packaging for its God of War III Ultimate Edition, the $99.99 deluxe edition of its upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive action game.

The only thing left inside is hope…and swag.

Sony today announced the Ultimate Edition will arrive alongside the standard version of God of War III. In addition to the game and decorative Pandora's Box packaging, players of the Ultimate Edition will receive an art book and access to a wealth of downloadable content. Gamers will get a feature-length retrospective on the franchise, the trilogy soundtrack, and a selection of heavy metal tracks inspired by God of War.

The special package will also come with a pair of in-game bonuses: A new "Dominus" skin for Kratos and the Combat Arena environment that lets players take on seven challenges. Finally, preorders for the Pandora's Box package will come with a code to download the God of War III Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009 demo, the same bonus included in November's God of War Collection and December's Blu-ray edition of the hit film District 9.

    There aren't many CE's that are worth the price tag. I can tell this one will be.

    F...ing cool, I love my Xbox, but these PS3 exclusives (Drakes, etc) beat anything on the 360...Awesome

    Playing Heavenly Sword right now just makes me want GOW3 so much more, not that it's a bad game..it's mediorce, but GOW is the apex of this genre and nothing comes close!

    It's a nice packaged deal especially for HARDCORE God Of War fans. For my I'll get the regular edition as always I can't wait--this game is going to be EPIC!

    Awesome! I'm actually stoked for the game & the collector's edition but $100 seems a bit overkill but for the amount of stuff included seems to be worth it.

    I doubt it will be able to hold more than 6 or 7 games guys I don't think thats what it's intended as. The locker that one of the new NBA games came with it's LE only holds 15 and its huge. Im not saying a Pandora's trunk wouldn't be amazing I would love it, I just don't think this is it.
