Lumines Live on XBLA this week?

What we heard: A list of achievements for the eagerly anticipated Xbox Live Arcade game Lumines Live recently hit the unofficial Achieve360points.com site, prompting some fans of the musically inclined puzzle series to speculate that it would be this Wednesday's Live Arcade release.

When the game was announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in May, it was only slated for release "later this year." There's still plenty of 2006 left for Lumines Live to slide onto Marketplace, but there's no reason it couldn't be this week. A presumably final version of the game was already reviewed in print months ago, and Microsoft needs to get on the ball with releasing Live Arcade games. Even at the rate of one new game per week, Microsoft will fall short of its stated goal of 50 Xbox Live Arcade games available by the end of the 2006 holidays.

Unfortunately, there's nothing concrete to suggest it will happen this week, only a slew of circumstantial evidence that suggests a release is imminent.

[UPDATE 10/17] This one's now officially not bogus, as Microsoft today announced that Lumines Live will hit Xbox Live Arcade at 1 a.m. PDT Wednesday morning.

    well, i hope it's true, but...

    there better be just ONE version to buy. Multiple purchases to make one FULL game, is just wrong. It's not like we buy Xbox game discs by the 1/4th....

    Xbox europe newsletter said its already out, but since live is currently down for 'scehduled maintenance' theres no way to check.

    My bet is that it's going to be Contra. Besides Lumines, it's the only game listed on xbox.com that is not yet released.

    Well before we all get too excited lets remember those stupid burger king games have had their achievements listed on the same site for about a week before Lumines popped up. Heck, Marvel UA has had its achievements up there for about 2 to 3 weeks now and it doesn't launch till next week.

    Knowing the acheivements means nothing. When you work for a developper you have access to PartnerNet, wich is the testing network that simulte xbox Live. With this network I knew the acheivements of Texas Hold'em 4 months before it came out. I was playing the game on my lunch break. I know Lumines is on that network right now, for testing purpose, it doesn't mean it's ready to ship. It could, i'm not saying it won't happen this wednesday, I just say it's no indication that it will, still could take months!

    It is probably NOT bogus... the Xbox marketing dept slipped up on their "pipeline" site they were testing last week and it shown DigDug and Lumines Live as the "new releases".

    The whole point of these XBLA Wednesdays was so that we wouldn't be left guessing as to which new Arcade games would be out each week. I mean, what happened to the upcoming Arcade schedules that they put out when they first announced XBLA Wednesdays? They did that maybe twice, but now we're back to playing guessing games to figure out which game will come out next.

    I think this week's XBLA game is Lumines. Check out - http://www.xboxlivepipeline.com/ . The only arcade game listed there with "Coming Soon" is Lumines Live!

    It won't be Contra, because the achievements haven't been revealed yet. The only arcade game to release without the achievements being revealed first was Doom, and even that was only b/c it was a big secret.

    When this game hits Live Arcade, my PSP will officially become useless. I don't have a problem with paying upwards of $25 to $30 for the complete experience of this game. Lumines is one of my favortie games, and I couldn't be happier to play it on my HDTV.

    Show me the achievements for any other arcade game that isn't out yet...good luck finding any, because none have been released, except Lumines Live. Look, they updated the marketplace page on xbox.com with a large Lumines ad. That place where that ad is, is the place they always have an ad for the next arcade game that comes out each week.
