Bam! Chefs and wannabe chefs alike are invited to the Nintendo World Store in New York's Rockefeller Plaza on March 31 for a gaming event that would make Julia Child proud. That day, Majesco is hosting the Cooking Mama: Cook Off Challenge to celebrate the launch of the first Cooking Mama Wii game.

The event is taking place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. local time and will feature an on-site chef preparing snacks and a competition featuring in-game Cooking Mama: Cook Off challenges at various stations set up around the store. Winners won't go home on an empty stomach or empty handed--those who prove their culinary prowess will receive a copy of the game. Those in attendance will also be able to take home a limited-edition Cooking Mama apron while supplies last.

MS is doing something similar with Guitar Hero 2... but Gene Simmons is going to be there. How does Cooking Mama make the news but Gene Simmons doesn't? HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE CRAZY!?!?!?!

I live in NYC...the Nintendo World Store is awesome!! They have the original Gameboy that was damaged in the Gulf War and it still works! Its under a glass case and it's playing Tetris...you have to see this thing.

This looks like it could be a fun event to watch and participate in. I might just stop by on Sunday!

Yeah screamteam, I had a hard time finding Nintendo World as well. I live in the Bronx, so I was like "what the heck, how come I've never seen it." It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, and it seems like it's hidden in a corner of NBC Studios. I was thoroughly disappointed.

mmmmmm, free food while you wait for a game launch..... why can't they do this for all console and video game launch? Hot food made by top chefs, I'm not trying to be funny. I love good food, so YEAH! This is awesome!

This is one of those quirky Nintendo franchises that will have us all saying "Man, who knew Cooking Mama would last this long!" in fifteen years or so as we remember her humble DS roots.

This news is interesting. If Cooking Mama for the Wii is any good, it actually might convince me to get one, seeing as how I'm itching to play Twighlight Princess anyway, and have been curious about the backwards-compatibility with the Gamecube.

Anyhow, I hope they added multiple difficulty settings. I hated feeling rushed in the DS version, which I still have. The biggest complain I got from my family and friends is that you feel really rushed when playing the game, when you want to relax and take your time. May sound counter-intuitive for a game, but honestly, we all really would've had more fun if you could relax a little more while making things.

I played the DS version, it was decent. Definitely a cool approach, but the game fell short IMO, but it was fun while it lasted. The game needs more of a challenge, like a cookoff with an actual timelime or something.

I haven't played cookin Mama yet, but I look forward to doing so. I'm a cook myself and I think cooking is one of the funniest things in the world ( and playing games, off course ). It's a good thing for me if there would be a good way of combining the two things I love.
