First Hitman movie pics surface

When the Hitman movie deal was announced, many people grumbled over the fact that Vin Diesel was cast as Agent 47. When he was eventually replaced by Timothy Olyphant, the howls of protest reached new heights. Many believed the Deadwood star couldn't convey the proper amount of sangfroid to play...

When the Hitman movie deal was announced, many people grumbled over the fact that Vin Diesel was cast as Agent 47. When he was eventually replaced by Timothy Olyphant, the howls of protest reached new heights. Many believed the Deadwood star couldn't convey the proper amount of sangfroid to play Eidos' legendary assassin. Others just thought he was too young and/or too handsome to play the older, more angular 47--who bears a striking resemblance to British actor Jason Statham (Crank).

Today, the first photos surfaced from the set of Hitman on fan site Filmwad.com. They show Olyphant in full 47 regalia, replete with a sharp black suit, shaved head, and barcode tattoo on the back of his skull. (Click on the photo to see front and rear shots of the actor posing with a fan on Filmwad.com.) Hitman is being directed by Xavier Gens, who was an assistant director on the Jean-Claude Van Damme film Maximum Risk. Bankrolled by 20th Century Fox, it is slated for a US release this fall.

    Just watch. He's going to kick ass in there. Vin Diesel wouldn't have been able to pull off the no emotion badass role for 47. Besides, he couldn't even get the accent. Statham wouldn't be able to do any better. They're both actors that have the "I smirk cus I'm so badass" thing going on. 47's got nothing on his face but "the job is done" and that is what Olyphant is going to bring that those other actors wouldn't be able to do. He kicked ass in the The Girl Next Door and even more ass in the new Die Hard. He's going to rock 47.

    I was thinking more of a David Day Lewis......you know, the main baddy from GangsOfNewYork movie, which by the way was an extrodinaryly violent movie and also a very educational film at the same time.

    I'm a Vin Diesel fan.. But I must confess that I belive it would have been better if they would have picked Jason Statham. (but I must say I woulnd like his accent on 47..) I actualy hope they use the voice from the game (though a voice over would be ugly).. but to use this young kid? sorry, this kind of makes me feel uneasy.. hitman 47 by now is an middle aged man, in excilent shape, not some young kid.. I played all hitman games and I loved them, I think cin diesel might be to macho for this one.. jet, I must say that I dont believe any actor would be perfect on forhand.. I mean, hitman is the silent type..

    this must be a movie that is not an action movie, thirriller perhaps, just PLEASE PLEASE dont get car chaces and unnessesary explosions.. hitman is a SILANT assasin !!!!!!!!!!

    anyway I know Vin Dielsel wil do an Excelent job! I mean, how dum must you be to say he has a babyface.. maybe you only saw hem in the pacifier.. (and yeah, he might be cute and cuddly theire.. but he did a damn good job in "the chronicles of Riddic" still I hope this does not delay the theird part of that one..

    brad pitt would have been good but with his face made pale he has the bump in his head in the same spot as agent 47 and i can picture him as it because he's bin in loads of action movies

    you dumbasses you have no idea how much i could care less about how much timthony olyphant resembles agent 47, since its about the character and the acting and agent 47not about rsemblances of the lead actor to agent 47 from the games. While i do agree that jason statham would have been my firstchoice timthony olyphant can still do a good job.That being said i don't have the time nor do i care to waste my energy on whining and complaining like emo kids about something that clearly isn't really that important. All i know is that this movie is going to be every much like the games in everyway and I don't care at all how any of you think about the resemblances not being accurate with timthony oylphant to agent 47 from the games. So I won't draw breath on this silly immature iilogical argument as long as my heart still beats.

    they need an unknown actor with blue eyes and a scary glance
    and who looks to be in there mid 30s early 40s
    but, if it couldnt happen jason statham wouldve been my pick
    and he does need to look and sound like 47,ill be pissed if this movie bombs

    I remember watching the trailer for this and thinkin, "yeah, that prettymuch doesnt look right at all" ::Looks at David Bateson as requested by HummaKavula ::

    Holy crap. He's right, the guy who does the voice would make a great 47 in the movie.

    I dunno, maybe they have their reasons for givin 47 a big baby head in the movie. Aint got my hopes up but we'll see.

    Makes perfect sense. Olyphant is just off of a successful Die Hard clone so he's got name recognition but can be got cheaply. Kurylenko is a Ukranian hottie with some acting experience who's probably just happy she's landed a part in a mainstream Hollywood picture, so no problems with contracts there. Xavier Gens is a young French director with little experience and virtually no film experience, so he doesn't carry the baggage of a Uwe Boll and can be gotten for nothing as well.

    If this film pulls in $20 -30 million, no problem - it's all profit. Gullible video game fanboys will go to see it just because of the name recognition of the title. Maybe they can even sneak in a bold "meaningful'" statement about how evil the US government and Catholic Church are (again) and remake Agent 47 into a post-modernist socialist hero. That'll be worth at least another 10 mill euros cash money in Europe.

    As for the fans, screw 'em. This is about maximizing profit while minimizing overhead. Since when has Hollywood been any different.

    Not one good actor they can find, Jason stratham their best find didn't want it and already did a Hitman like movie, Vin Diesel has tomuch muscles and is to young but his face is Ok.... but timothy oliphant.... he is more like a timothy ENFANT he is to thin to nice... as chrisser665 already said they should just use David Bateson who already did agent 47's voice and also looks more like him then Timothy ENFANT and Vin Diesel and is older then Jason Statham and is less known so that also helps more with the mysterious being of agent 47.

    For the love of ALL good movies ever made- JUST USE DAVID BATESON! HE is the current voice of 47 in the games, and he even looks the part already!!! This movie CAN'T suck- it has TOO much potential!!!

    I personally think Bruce Willis would be good in this role. David Bateson would of been my choice.
    I don't like this guy, he doesn't resemble Agent 47.

    Jason Statham all the way for Agent 47. He already dresses like him in the Transporter movies just change the color of the ties and make him a little more BA and unrelenting to kill people and BAM we got Agent 47

    agent 47 isn't about scary. he's about shady, there's a BIG difference. seriously, one of the most epic, environmental, and cinematic game series' possibly ever, and now we get the deadwood/jean claude van damme AD treatment. first silent hill, now this, if they take one more thing that artistically brilliant, adn try to turn it into another summer popcorn remake of a 25+ year old horror movie i may vomit. coming soon to theaters near you, the legend of zelda, the movie: starring colin farrell as link, that girl from that 70's show who was in saints row as zelda, and franklin the puppet from arrested development as ganon. [wretch...]

    I would rather have vin diesel though the crank actor might of been better. I don't know if he talks in the game but from what I've seen is that he needs to be a cold blooded killer and not a cold blooded BADaSS.

    Why didn't they go for Jason Statham if he looks so much like Agent 47? He'd be amazing for the part. The ruthlessness in Crank (without the adrenaline rushes) showed he can be a remorseless killer.

    Tim Olyphant > Vin Diesel

    He's a terrific actor, unlike Diesel. He was a badass in Deadwood, which none of you pro-Diesel cretins probably watched because its dialogue probably left you confused.

    Vin Diesel was recently the star of "The Pacifier." So suck it.

    Statham, and Diesel are great in popcorn flicks. Lot of Bullsh*t action, crappy one-liners, and poor plot structure.

    The only thing they have in common with Agent 47 is a bald noggin.

    Let's hope the Hitman movie, I know I'm asking for a lot here, has a solid storyline some good acting, and some "Realistic" action scenes.

    Plus it would be cool to see Agent 47 go through many stealthy situations, just like the game, to eventually get close to his target, and "Fiberwire" the stuffing out of him.

    Does Ian Mckellen look like Gandalf? Does Mickey Rourke look like Marv? Does Gary Oldman look like Dracula? No. There is certain thing callaed movie-making where they among other things combine makeup and acting to portray a role.
    Acting skill is something neither Diesel nor Statham can boast large quantities of, though they might, to some, look the part. Olyphant is a fine actor. HeŽll get the job done.
