More than a year and a half after it acquired an early draft of the Halo movie script, Latinoreview.com has apparently scored another game-film coup. This week, reviewer "El Mayimbe" recapped the script for the forthcoming film adaptation of Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

After writing at length about his days as a gamer, El Mayimbe reveals some plot details about the film, which he describes as a "9th Century Indiana Jones." Without revealing any of the spoilers in the review, it confirms the movie will stick close to the game's plot. It also reveals that the script superficially calls for the use of parkour, the gravity-defying street gymnastics used in Casino Royale's opening chase scene. Overall, El Mayimbe loves the script and forsees it becoming a major film franchise.

Announced at DICE in 2004, the Prince of Persia movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean) for Walt Disney Pictures, with Transformers director Michael Bay reportedly attached to the project. Its script is being written by Jordan Mechner, creator of the original Prince of Persia game, and The Day After Tomorrow screenplay scribe Jeffrey Nachmanoff.

Close to the game's plot? What are they talking about? The prince is not even the son of the king,
    Farah is not there,
    No sand creatures,
The game is based on the 89 movie and the title is the Sands of time...

The game was cool, i think if it sticks close to the game plot and has actors that can pool it off, i think it will be a good movie

"Rather than do a straight beat-for-beat adaptation of the new videogame, we're taking some cool elements from the game and using them to craft a new story - much as 'Pirates' [of the Caribbean] did with the theme park ride." — Jordan Mechner[3] Article in wikipedia.

brushwithrob , the producer is excellent, how can u say that Jerry Brukheimer sucks? clearly you don't own a television.

This movie could EASILY fail. Writer sucks. Producer sucks. Director sucks. That's a trio of untalented folks trying to adapt a franchise that, after the first 3-D entry, lost it's touch in a BIG way. And you know I'm right.

I still think the name sounds too stupid I mean I can't remember any movie which took a name directly from its counterpart nonetheless the cast seems pretty strong I have my fingers crossed till then ...

Donkeljohn There is always room in action movies for some hard-core Parkour. Freerunning is the acrobatic wave of the future.

yeah.... except for the fact that parkour and freerunning are different things.

The Prince comes to the big screen, OMG! *Kisses* Thanks to whoever came up with the idea to make Prince of Persia into a movie! I still think Jared Leto would have made a better Prince (the 'oh so sexy' lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars). The other guy they picked (Charlie Clausen) is a bit too pasty. Mind you, i don't mind that they chose him. He'll make a good Prince, i'm just saying that, in my opinion, Jared Leto would have done the Prince more justice.

If you wan't to make it an comedie jack black has to play the prince, but probably it isn't a comedie. I think it has to be played by erm...A slightly colourd person who looks like him. The same face expression and stuff. The hair must be the same. I think Jonnhy Depp or something, Although his face expression isn't really good. Just someone who looks like the prince.

possibly going to be one of the few actually good movies based on games, prince of persia to me has always felt like zelda with arabian twist and I've always digged the story line so im betting that this will break the bad movie based on game curse.....oh and THIS IS PERSIA!!!!!!!!!
