Codemasters confirmed to GameSpot today that a PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 demo for Clive Barker's Jericho would be getting under gamers' skin this week. The PC demo will creep onto GameSpot Wednesday, with an Xbox Live and PlayStation Network trial slated to follow on Thursday.

In the demo for Barker's latest supernatural shooter, players will attempt to survive during the Crusades time period after their strike force has been decimated by the evil forces controlling the city of Al-Khali. As the spirit of deceased squad leader Cpt. Devin Ross, players will be able to possess the bodies of heavy-weapons expert Sgt. Frank Delgado, telekinetic sniper Lt. Abigail Black, and enchantress and martial weapons specialist Sgt. Billie Church. Players will also get a first-hand look at the warped abominations that Barker has devised for the game.

Clive Barker's Jericho is rated M for Mature. Check out the latest trailer for the game, available exclusively through GameSpot, and pick up the PC demo on Wednesday.

Just got done playing the demo. But by "done", I mean "I'm uninstalling it, and not buying the game in its current state." Explanation: The graphics are great, the audio and voice acting are fantastic, and the game has a very fast, fluid, responsive feel. It's a very solid role-based shooter at this point, and I liked switching between the characters. But there's one CRITICAL flaw: They drop you into Dragon's Lair (or timed-button-matching) style puzzles, where all of your FPS play skill has absolutely NO relevance. Nor do the puzzles have any relevance to the progression of the game itself, IMO. Let's hope that they make a last-minute SAVE on this otherwise excellent shooter, and TAKE OUT THE BUTTON MASHING NON-PUZZLES. (Note: the word "puzzle" implies "figuring out," not Dance Dance Zombie.) All they would have to do is add a menu option that says "disable button-mini-games".

Played the PC demo ... i gotta say there are lots of nice ideas in the game .. but the most top notch thing is the atmopshere ( spooky ) and the graphics where nice too ^_^

The characters & their varied abilites balance out quite nicely ....but i didn't like the enemies on the other hand ... while gory looking and vicious they don't do much other than runninng into you or stand away and shoot projectiles .. i was expecting smarter or more interesting enemies .. hopefully the full game will have that XD

The other things that i didn't like .... the demo is so freaking short .. i played much much longer demos in my life ... i don't know if this is a new trend in making demos ( Bioshock demo was freaking short too ) or is it a sign the game is short .. hmmmm

Second ... the squad controls are not good ... it is ok if it is not detailed like say SWAT ... but again it doesn't give you much control over your squad when they are around you .. actually i would have liked a swift and acessiable system like ( Star Wars : Republic Commandos ) .. it was easy to use in the heat of battle and gave you a nice level of control .. hope they revise the squad system and give it more depth before the game is out XD

( when is Crysis Demo coming out .. i think its gonna make lots of PC gamers do a major upgrade ... the biggest in PC history .. lol )

    Have a nice day

I have my issues with the game right now. But all in all from a FPS snobs stand point, It looks acceptable. I'm a little disappointed in the gameplay but at least its better than Halo 3 and GOW and those other FPS posers.

    I played the Demo

It was good but short and lacked the horror of Undying

I hope the final game to have a deep story full of twists and not just mindless shooting

Undying was one of the best PC games of its time, the art direction, narrative and technical quality were all way past their time. I will be taking out a good chunk of time tonight from Halo 3....if that says anything about how excited I am about this new Barker title.

I love the trailer in HD with the music.
It's probably not in real-time and I probably won't be able to run/play the game itself well.
But I'm looking forward to see how this game turns out, what kind of game it even is exactly.

probably not a good time to come out with a demo i think they should come out with one a week or so before it comes out cause then ppl will still be playing Halo 3 but it won't be as crazy as it is now

It will not compare to the superb Undying, but it looks to be an interesting premise. Sort of a militaristic form of the group in "Lord of illusions".

This is the best news all week! I'd venture to guess that with all of the positive hands-on reviews and an early demo release, that the game is probably pretty solid.

Barking up the right tree. Don't save this forest. By the way, rated M for Mature! May contain violence on a scale which has yet to be seen. Dowload the demo now!

it's funny they make such a big deal about the stupid ratings system, and then they let you download Mature demo titles in 2 minutes on your console.

I hope it's good, but I have little faith in games attached to "famous names" like Clive Barker and Todd (worst games ever made) Mc Farlane. Also, isn't ironic that one of the worst actors of our time (no, not Nicholas Cage) Vin Diesel is attached to one of our best FPS' (Riddick)? Go figure!!!

smooth frame rates really matter in these kinda games, the fun diminishes to half when such good games actually come up with bad frame rates, even on a console, where they can harness the full power of console......... recently i played the demo of much anticipated time shift, and trust me, frame rates are not upto the mark and spoiled all the fun of such a nice game.
