Ratchet and Clank tool around on PSN

Yesterday, Sony confirmed to GameSpot that Jonathan Mak's much-anticipated Everyday Shooter would be arriving on the PlayStation Network this week. Accompanying the acclaimed one-man production this week is a trio of demos.

As confirmed in late September, a free trial of Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction leads the demo offerings this week. The sampler of Insomniac's latest 3D platformer is a redux of the demo offered as a preorder incentive at GameStop, and sees the titular heroes blasting through the game's first level in the city of Metropolis. Ratchet and Clank make their next-generation debut on the PlayStation 3 on October 30.

Also appearing on the PlayStation Network this week is a free trial of THQ's Conan. Though Sony did not reveal the contents of the Conan demo, it will most likely be similar to the Xbox Live version released earlier this week. In that sampler, gamers got to maim, butcher, and in all other ways inflict bodily harm as Robert E. Howard's Cimmerian for approximately 15 minutes. Conan will rage in all his glory on the PS3 come October 23.

Likewise, Sony did not elucidate the contents of 2K Sports' NHL 2K8 demo. However, gamers will invariably have the opportunity to test out the game's new control scheme, as well as check out a few of the other additions, such as the new goal-tending mechanics, face-off system, and updated graphics. The full version of NHL 2K8 is currently available at retail.

    Shame there isn't a gamestop in the UK though, I just have to wait for a dl on PSN soon. DEFINATELY getting TOD!!

    Finally a game that may made me hook up my ps3 again im with u 4esth sony need to bring out more titles or ill be selling my ps3 for some microsoft and nintendo points ps3 has NO good games..... YET, but im hopefull for the future

    the ratchet & clank demo was fun, though, I wouldn't say it was jaw droppingly awesome, but still pretty good

    I downloaded the PSN version or R&C, and as Adumar and Borgman stated, the screen tearing issues present on the disc version have been fixed. After seeing the tearing in Heavenly Sword, I was afraid it would stay in R&C too. I love being proven wrong. Kudos to the developers!

    Never really played R & C before not my typical type of game downloaded this demo to try it out and it is an awesome game good implemintation of the six axis control just may buy it and the conan demo sucks , ugly graphics , don't like the voice of conan and the combos don't seem fluid disappointed as I am a fan of the conan books and comics

    I live in Europe , but we got only a golf and simpsons demo. I liked the other R&C games for the ps2.

    I can barely hear the audio at all on the demo. Any thoughts as to why this is happening? My PS3 is using an HDMI cable that's plugged directly into my TV. I use the PS3 as my main DVD player and all my movies sound great. Other demos and trailers sound great as well. Just can't hear this demo for some reason.

    That's a great week for the PSN. I downloaded pretty much everything I could except for the NHL demo. Everyday Shooter is really cool (and difficult!) Ratchet and Clank is like playing a Pixar movie, and Conan had my girlfriend literally gasping in horror. "Head stomp!" I'll buy that one when it's not new. It's got PS2 graphics, but Conan telling proselytizing Krom is just too good pass up.

    I loved the Ratchet game! The effects were breathtaking; I couldn't get enough of using the grenades (forget the R&C lingo) and seeing the beautiful explosions... I will with no doubt get this game!

    And a side note... Conan sucked... Anyone else see how the lip sync was off on the girl? Controls, graphics and animation were horrid. Anyone spot how (1) Conan's hair didn't move and (2) his hair sometimes went through his own shoulder? =\

    with demos like ratchet & clank clocking in at 1600+ MB, the 20 gb hard drive would have filled up so quickly..as it stands now, with all the demos and trailers i've downloaded, i've already used up more than half the 60 gb hard drive.. the ratchet demo was very cool..lots of on screen action at once.. good fun.. and very definitely a must-buy for the PS3.. Conan was fun, but the cut-scene graphics leave a lot to be desired.. very gory but could be a fun game.. have to wait and see on this.. and purchasing Everyday Shooter next weekend.. good reviews all around..

    I was just thinking about renting R&C, but due to the awesomeness of the demo I am buying it. Also I was thinking about renting Conan, but due to the crappiness of that demo, I will pass that one up. It looks like R&C will make an amazing debut on the PS3.

    i have got all rac all finished and i can't wait to see what is next. i am downloading it now the demo but rac size matters on psp was not to good short not much and not much about the past so lets hope this is better. rac sm was hard with the giant clank bit in space it took me an hour i like it though. it was fun but could be improved well it was on psp it cuts things off.

    Ratchet and Clank was amazing. There were actually parts where as I killed the enemies it felt like it was choreographed. Im psyched for this game now.
