Declaring that Fire Pro Wrestling Returns on the PlayStation 2 will be a "bargain powerbomb," Agetec today announced that the game is set for a North American release on November 13 with a retail price of $14.99.

Developed by Spike, the Fire Pro Wrestling series is known for its reliance on 2D character sprites, as well as customization options that give players hundreds of choices for a created wrestler's moves and appearance. The game also includes a wealth of matches, from battle royales to barbed-wire, exploding-ring deathmatches.

The Fire Pro Wrestling series has previously made it to US shores twice, with a pair of Game Boy Advance installments localized by Bam! Entertainment. Like those games, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is rated T for Teen.

I've been looking into this game for years. I could try to find it for GBA. But I think I'd prefer a console version. (all i have is Wii and 360) However if they make a DS one I'd get it.

You can make a good Owen Hart...but he is not a default wrestler.

The vast majority of the defaults are Japanese wrestlers. Here is a full list of the 327 default wrestlers:

AWESOME! Played the original Fire Pro G on PSX and created hundreds of wrestlers. Can't wait for the PS2, especially for $14.99.

Best wrestling game out today period. Only thing coming close in terms of gameplay is King of Colosseum II. And on $15 bucks woot. I was about to have my PS2 modded with the Crystal Chip 2.0 and pay a good amount of money for the entire import setup but this is amazing. Also this is better on the PS2 as you can you AR Max to transfer saves and so on which is a huge part of this game.

That is a super tip top bargain !!! Fire pro is hands down the best Wrestling game you can buy .. it;s a shame that spice doesn't release a box set like Metal slug / king of fighters with Fire PRo X , SMS , D and R on it . Anyone who doesn't spend $15 on this is an idiot !

Just a quick comment on something PackerFan1996 said: The port is not removing anyone from the current FPR roster. WWE wrestlers were taken out of Firepro for Firepro Z...but there are still several gaijin wrestlers in the default roster.

This same game came out in Japan in 2005 on the PS2, which is why it is coming out on the US PS2....it has taken 2 years for a company to buy the rights and secure permission to release it in the NA market (With a European release still planned, but no release date confirmed as of yet)

Hopefully the game sells well enough that a new version is created for a current gen system, most likely PS3 or Wii, since the X-Box 360 doesn't have a huge base in Japan.

Still. For $15.00, NA audeinces are getting a gift.

Bring this game to the next gen consoles and allow support for custom ring entrance themes from music saved to your HDD. And online play...

U can keep the same graphics though (but make them high res)

It sucks thats it's coming on for the PS2, but fortunately I still have one so I guess I'm okay. I would have prefered a XBLA version or a X360 retail copy with online multiplayer. Fire Pro and AKI wrestling games are the best. SvR08 and TNA will suck.

Being a FPW fan since FPW: S 6 Man Scramble for Sega Saturn, I've since owned FPW: D, among others with FPW D being my favorite. When I heard about FPW: R, I wanted to mod my PS2, but that process, along with the price of the game would cost around $100. I ditched that idea, and forgot about it. When I found out the same game (minus the pre-made US wrestlers) is coming to the US, I was in heaven. I've got it pre-ordered, and can't wait for November 13th. Heavenly!

I was going to buy this even if it was $40 or $50. So this is a damn good deal. I had a ball with Fire Pro Z (for the PS1) and Fire Pro D (for the Dreamcast), I'm expecting the same fun for this installment.

Coming out the same day as WWE 2008? Well, I'm getting this Fire Pro Wrestling game that day. Forget about that WWE game. TNA Impact! is what I'm waiting for. FPW will more than hold me over until then.
