To usher in the arrival of the slimline GeForce 8800GT, Nvidia and EA today announced that registration has opened for GeForce LAN 4, which will take place from November 16-18 in Alameda, California. Registration is limited to 450 participants for those interested in bringing their PCs to compete in LAN games and tournaments, and costs $25. General admittance is free for those who just come for the festivities sans their PC.

LAN games and tournaments will be held for Crytek's Crysis, which just so happens to have a release date of November 16, as well as Valve Software's Team Fortress 2, which was part of the five-in-one megacompilation The Orange Box released earlier this month. The PlayStation 3 version of Madden NFL 08 will also be on hand. Proceeds of the event will benefit Get Well Gamers and Alameda County Food Bank. Check out the GeForce LAN 4 Web site to register and find out more on the event.

"RaiKageRyu I get why it's the PS3 version. It is the PS3 their video card is in after all."
Ya that makes sense. Too bad the ps3 version of Madden 08 is 30fps while the 360 version is 60fps. Not a good showcase for their card.

This sounds WAAYYYY cool! It's just to bad that my health (and crappy gaming skills) do not allow me to go to these type of conventions. Hope everyone has a great time!!

Too bad, I can't pay for a $500 round trip flight to the Bay Area, and I don't wanna drive 12 hours to San Francisco. Oh well too bad.

i REALLY wish that they were holding this on the east coast. id love to go and i could probably get that weekend off (the 16th is a friday for thos who dont know) and i live where i could get to practically anywhere up or down the east coast with a short overnight drive. i cant afford to fly to california for 3 days and then fly back and all the other costs associated with it. really wish they would do one on the east coast.
