College Hoops 2K8 signs 90 classic rosters

Earlier this year, 2K Sports scored a decisive victory over rival EA Sports with its well-reviewed pro basketball sim NBA 2K8. With the two soon squaring off on the collegiate level, 2K is hoping its depth of roster will help give it a similar edge.

2K Sports announced today that 90 classic teams would be included in this year's College Hoops 2K8. Of those 90 teams, 69 will be player-for-player re-creations of past greats, including Michael Jordan's 1982 North Carolina Tarheels and the Cinderella-story 1990 Loyola Marymount Lions. The game will also include six all-time conference teams and 15 all-time school teams.

College Hoops 2K8 will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2 on November 19.

    Do you have to unlock these rosters? On the main menu screen you can't access 90 classic rosters. Please help.

    is it me or these guys just dont learn quick enough that the whole retro team thing doesnt work for the masses. Going in that direction is cool, no question about that, however unless u are a true fan and know what exactly does a retro team represent you'll probably never care about which in reality is 80% of the game buyers.
    This has been shown in small scale in every EA game when they plug the "old school" teams, and specially in amazingly quickly forgotten All-pro football.

    Half of those classic teams will be the UCLA Bruins and there dominant performances in College Hoops.....can't wait to get that one.....Pac-10=number 1 Conference and the Bruins are gonna roll this year!!!!!!

    people tend to forget that Jordan was in NBA 2k5 when he was on the wizards. the reason that you don't see Jordan himself in too many games is that like Barry Bonds, he opted out of being in the NBAPA around 1994, so he could control his likeness and image and dictate how and where it was used in video games, and other media in the NBA. For a while, he had an exclusive contract with electronic arts, so he was in their games, but not anyone else's. personally though, I hope they go with 1982 Jordan with the fade, and really skinny look. now that would truely be classic.

    yeah, does that mean that names will be included or will it just be players that look exactly like their real life counterparts?? the 69 teams with those attributes will make this game a must have. SOoner or later they will eventually put current players on rosters with names and all. NCAA will enjoy that check.

    I have enjoyed the college hoop series for years, except for last year. Hopefully, 2k8 will be a great game.

    I'm not an EA basher in any way (my gamertag is proof enough), but 2K is much better than March Madness in recent versions. From what I've seen so far, not much has changed in that department.

    So we can finally play in a basketball game using Jordan (bird vs Jordan doesn't count). I am buying just for that... I hope they have the animations down pact for michael.

    I don't like sports games too much...or sports for that matter. I'm a gamer, sue me. But that doesn't mean I'm criticizing the game. By all means, I hope it's good and people get their money's worth.

    Wow, they still found another excuse to be able to be M.J. in a video game. I'm a huge basketball fan, but not college hoops so I never know what to do in these games. There are just too many schools to keep track of, I understand the Alumni point of view, but people that track every team of every conference is just insanity!

    Agreed about that Illinois team. Watching Luther Head, Dee Brown and Deron Williams play was amazing. It's also pretty awesome to see Williams doing so well in the NBA too. Man that was one fun team to watch.

    so do they mean the real players like michael jordan himself, same face and name... now that would be exciting, seeing that they should have the rights to those names since they are out of college

    I hope one of t hose 90 classic teams are the 2001 Arizona Wildcat team. I know they lose to Duke in the title game, but that team was the best Arizona wildcat team I have ever seen. period. Even better than the 1997, 2003, 1988, 1994 and 2005 teams. Here's the starting line-up for that 2001 team.

    PF=Michael Wright. SF=Richard Jefferson.

    C=Loren Woods.

    SG=Gilbert Arenas.

    PG=Jason Gardner.

    Now the back ups.

    Luke Walton.

    Rick Anderson.

    Are you kidding me. What a team. I would love to play this team on College Hoops 2K8. I'll buy the game if that have this team in it.

    ea can burn. anything 2k is great. they won me over with nfl 2k5....most underrated sports game ever. ill pick this up. more classic teams is always good.

    me and my roomate play nothing but college hoops 2k7 (of course with Mario Galaxy and Mass Effect coming out that's bound to change)...... we have a uk- unc legacy going now.....some of my fav video game memories have come from those matchups.....cant wait to see what 2k8 has to offer

    College Hoops is a great basketball series, I would get 2k8 but Im still enjoying 2k7. Getting this 90 classic teams is a cool addition though.
