BioShock isn't the only Xbox 360 game to see new downloadable content surface this week. New offerings for Culdcept Saga and Rock Band, as well as the first wave of Xbox Originals are also populating the Xbox Live Marketplace this week.

The Culdcept series has seen an array of installments on platforms dating back to the original PlayStation in Japan, but it has only made its way to the US once: 2003's Culdcept for PlayStation 2. For those who missed out on that chance to check out Culdcept's strategic Monopoly-meets-Magic: The Gathering gameplay, Namco Bandai is currently offering a free demo of Culdcept Saga for the Xbox 360. It includes the first map of the game and allows multiplayer matches for up to four players.

As laid out by Harmonix several weeks ago, a three-pack of Black Sabbath songs is now available for Rock Band. Cover versions of "N.I.B," "Sweet Leaf," and "War Pigs" are available individually for 160 Microsoft points ($2), or as a three-pack for 440 points ($5.50). The same songs are also expected to arrive this week on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 edition of Rock Band.

Rounding out the new content on the Xbox Live Marketplace are free picture packs and themes for each game in the first wave of Xbox Originals. That wave includes Halo, Psychonauts, Indigo Prophecy, Fable, Fuzion Frenzy, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, and Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge.

    Thoughs downloadable X-box games must take a lot of harddrive space.

    Thats great, but im still waitin for some Darkside of the Moon. It would be also great if they could get some Zeppelin on there.

    when are they gonna be having the albums on the DLC?
    thats one the things they kept on saying about it
    i think it would be cool if they had constant DLC for genres (Metal,Classic Rock,alternative,punk etc ) that way every one could be getting what they want

    I really like the XBox Originals idea. It's just like the Wii's Virtual Console and that isn't a bad thing. It is a good way to catch up on some old games that we may have missed out on.

    @Iamprey263

    I know what you mean. I love everything about 360, but I wish they could have given it at least a 40GB HDD, I guess I'll buy the 120GB one, at least they give us a nice upgrade!

    I was actually thinking of downloading one or two Xbox originals last night... but then I remembered they're a few GB each, and that 20GB HDD really only comes with 12 GB out of the box.

    the Rock band tracks need to be made available in Canada for those of us who own the game.

    The update is both good and bad. Good that now I can some X-Box game that I missed but bad because I keep trying to navigate through the browser and having to keep waiting in some part for 1-2 minutes for the screen to load.

    after the update, i got freezing while trying to prviate chat and send messages, lock ups until i ejected the disc, and worst of all, Cod4 just wouldnt connect to anyone last night, maybe it was the servers but the update definitely seemed to cause problems.

    The xbox games are a bit pricey as well to be honest, you cant buy 1200 points so you have to buy 2000 points, and most of the games listed you can pick up for around £5 from places like game or gamestation.

    Sweat leaf and NIB aren't exactly, the greatest songs in the world. So I'll stick with war pigs. But indigo prophecy on xbl originals? That game just came out on the bc list a week or so ago. I'm surprised its on the original list already.

    I HIGHLY recommend Indigo Prophecy to anyone who hasn't played it. It's incredible. Yes, the story gets a little whacked out in the end...but so do a lot of game stories!

    Ah Culdcept, one of the best games people haven't heard of. Found it at my EB several years ago for $12. Great buy. Anyone who likes CCG's or monopoly will love it.

    pentium4dude "They obviously have to target a much broader audience than just your console.": Actually, I don't like the majority of the songs, none of my friends like any of the songs, my brother doesn't like the majority of the songs, and none of his friends like the majority of the songs, so there goes your snide comment. BTW, my brother and I live on opposite sides of the country and have completely different tastes in music. As for being greatful, you make it sound like the songs are free. Anyways, I wish I had as broad a taste in music as you, as I could be playing 25 more songs right now (granted it would cost $50).

  • pentium4dude

    Posted Dec 4, 2007 5:00 pm PT

    See, CIVICGSR, a good song to you isn't always a good song to me. They obviously have to target a much broader audience than just your console. It's practically impossible for everyone to get every song that they want, so they have to choose many different ones. Just like the DLC for GHII that had the foreign songs. Maybe you didn't like them, I did. It's hard to please everyone and we have to be grateful that they are producing any DLC at all.

    When are they gonna start releasing good songs for Rock Band? I was all excited about the downloadable content until I realized that the only good songs you can download were on the older Guitar Hero's. Everything else is 2nd rate crap from big name bands (other than Blackened by Metallica). And the one song I did download (Creedence) is SO EASY it's rediculous. Get your act together EA... there is a TON of revenue potential in DLC that could be going on your books as we speak, if you were able to secure good songs. The only explanation I can think of is that the bands are charging higher royalties for their more popular songs, and EA wants to wait until Rock Band has a strong user base which will result in higher revenues for those popular songs. Awareness of the fact that you can download songs will be increased by then as well, further increasing sales. Capitalism at it's finest; the least you can do is give us a 1:10 ratio of good to bad songs, EA.

    Crap! With the full downloadable games, I am gonna NEED the 120 GB Hard Drive.... The update should have given us a price cut on that too. "Indigo Prophecy" was underrrated, it was an awesome (weird) experience. I also wanna give "psychonauts" a try. Now on to ebay for the Hard Drvie....

    I like the idea of all Jeff supporters changing their icons to a Jeff pic...

    Viva la Jeff!

  • DrinkDuff

    Posted Dec 4, 2007 4:15 pm PT

    That's a good point Super Steve. Still, I wish they could have squeezed in one more song into the "pack"

  • SuperSteve120

    Posted Dec 4, 2007 4:11 pm PT

    @DrinkDuff

    The Songs are all made for the four differenent instruments on all difficulties, unlike GHIII whose songs are only made for the guitar and yet are still more expensive that Rock Band's songs. Go figure.
