Between its massive sales and movie potential, The Force Unleashed has been in the news of late. Today, the Jedi-based action game made headlines again, as LucasArts announced it was working on downloadable content for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the title.
First up will be a series of "additional costumes and character models that can be used while playing through the single-player campaign," according to LucasArts. The new models will include such figures from Star Wars lore as Jedi knight Luke Skywalker, his master Obi-Wan Kenobi, and two Jedi council members: Ki-Adi-Mundi and Kit Fisto. LucasArts has a history of introducing character models, allowing players to play through Mercenaries as Han Solo or Indiana Jones.
While fun for fans, the first content update will be small compared to the second, which will add a full-fledged mission to the popular game. [WARNING: Possible spoilers ahead!] The new mission will be set in the half-destroyed Jedi Temple, former center of the vanquished order's power, on the city-world Coruscant, capital of the Galactic Empire. Playing as Darth Vader's secret apprentice, players will explore the ruins for clues to his origins in general--and his father in particular. [End potential spoilers.]
Both content updates are being developed internally at LucasArts by the Force Unleashed team. The two will be released via Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store this fall at unannounced price points, with more content--including themes and picture packs--to follow.
