Capcom got us a save file that let us try out alternate costumes for the crew. We took some footage to let you all get a look at some of them.

Akuma
Gouken
Dhalsim
Blanka
E.Honda
Zangief
Guile

As you can see, the costumes run the range from "blah" to pretty cool. We're fans of Chun-Li's homage to Mai Shiranui, Zangief's Haggar inspired threads, and Guile's tribute to Charlie. We're less happy about Ryu's "fightin' hobo" look as well as the large bows worn by Gouki, Gouken, and E. Honda. Ken's gold chain, fur collar, and sneaker ensemble is kind of a head scratcher too. Anyone looking at the movies should note this is a near final version of the game with a few quirks, hence the "you did not earn a trophy" message popping up. I don't think the final game will blatantly chip away at your self esteem--well, with text. At the higher levels of difficulty Street Fighter IV's AI will most definitely get you questioning your skills. As for how you get the costumes, Capcom is choosing to be mysterious and keeping quiet about whether the costumes are unlockable or downloadable content (which, if they are, we're hoping is either super cheap or free) so we'll see how this plays out. In the meantime, enjoy.

    I think uncovering the alt-costume for Seth should remove him from the game and unlock an apology video from Capcom.

    Everybody but Chun Li stinks! Everyone shows more skin or if they normally show a lot, they show less. At least Chun Li wears a traditional outfit which is partially based upon her SFA outfit. I can't image what Dan will wear. Maybe a AOF knockoff outfit. Sakura will probably have an alternate schoolgirl outfit, a karate gi, or maybe a version without pads or shoes like in that SF comic bundled with the controllers.

    Looks like it could be fun, if only for nostalgia's sake. Can't wait to play this with some friends, but still definitely a rental.

    Fei Long's "Speedo look" is a homage to Bruce Lee at the beginning of Enter the Dragon where he fights Sonny Chiba infront of a bunch of Monks. the Vega like Slashes on his face and chest are also from that movie (though he gets them at the end!)

    I'm liking Chun Li's alt costume, but it seems like there's features here and there on the others that are kind of...odd. Like the bow on Akuma's back and Blanka's British explorer look to name a couple. I mean, really? Other than that, I'm looking forward to this!

    SF 4 looks awesome, its great that they have new and old looks for the characters.
    Can't wait to buy the game and get the alternative costumes

    I'll buy a few costumes for some characters. SFIV can not get here soon enough. Thank goodness for SSFIIT:HDR.

    Wonder if specific costumes will get a different type of reaction off some characters durin the intro's like Ken mentioning Ryu could do with some new threads if Ryu fights in his alt

    Alt customs cant be downloadable content, that'd suck! they gotta be unlockables! it adds up a reward into the gameplay

    Some of these alternates are really pretty poor. I mean, Akuma looks like he has a giant pretzel strapped to his back. And of all the Bruce Lee-type costumes they could have put Fei Long in, they pick the worst one. Should have gone with the yellow jumpsuit with a huge footprint across the chest. That would have been a far better throwback.

    Meh all around.

    yeah reindertot I don't mind females with thick thighs and legs but chun Li is a bit too much. It like she being pumping HGH in her legs.

    I quite like all of the costumes, especially Ryu's. Abels costume can be found on youtube, its a kurt angle style wrestling leotard.. its pretty cool!
    but hey its unlikely to be downloadable content, so you wont be paying form them so if you dont like them just dont wear them!

    birthofstar, bruce did wear that costume. it was at the beginning of the enter the dragon movie on his first appearence when he was sparring against the student of the temple. get your facts right man... anyway, guys dont doubt the game. ive played this in the arcade and cant wait to get it for my ps3. definitely worth the money

    I like the bows, especially Akuma's, it adds sort of a "dragon wings" aspect a la Devil Jin from Tekken but keeps it traditional.
