There's little doubt that MLB 2K9 had issues at launch, and the game took a drubbing both critically and from its vocal fanbase. Among the prominent problems in the game was strange fieldling behavior: first basemen who stepped off the bag, strange fielding errors in the outfield, and more. News of an upcoming patch has been released on the 2K Sports forum. According to the post, here's a partial list of the fixes that will be implemented in the patch:

AI Agressiveness
Home Run Totals
Fly balls in the outfield tweaked so ghastly fielding errors will be a thing of the past
1st baseman stepping off bag has been tweaked
Issues with the pitch overlay hud
Fixed pickoffs, especially to 2nd base
Roster issues as it pertains to subsituting pitchers and bench

As the forum post points out, this is just a partial list of fixes but, by the look of it, it's addressing some of the uglier issues in the game. I'm wondering if the "ghastly fielding errors" includes that strange and unnatural slowdown effect that sometimes happen when you're controlling an outfielder and chasing down a fly ball. If not, I hope its addressed at some point.

According to 2K, the patch is nearly ready for submission and approval, which puts its release out a couple of weeks from now. I look forward to seeing how the game plays, post-patch. What issues are you hoping this patch fixes up?

    MLB 09 The Show > MLB 2K9
It rapes 2k9 in every way. I'm not being fanboyish, it's just the truth. i used to play the 2k series, but now...it has NOTHING on THA SHOW!!!

This is why sports should not sell exclusivity rights to ANY game creator. The creators stop trying. I cant even buy a professional football game anymore because of EA. Now, because i dont own ps2 or 3, i cant buy the best baseball game out right now. MLB The SHOW. I owned this game for my ps2 and I loved it ever since. 2k should give up there exclusivity rights because this is not the first or second time they released a game with millions of bugs. Thanks to another game creator, its 1 less game that I would like to buy I cant. Thanks a lot

Glad they are fixing the issues and I hope they get the patch out asap. Keep up the support and I have good feelings about next year's version.

360 will never see that game at all.

And MLB 2K9 needs more than a "patch" it needs to recalled redeveloped and rereleased. And thats a fact.

That's cool they are addressing this quickly, but I'm not sold at all. Last year was such a dissappointment, for them to come out with this POS is just too much. I think I will just hold off a few weeks just to see what people are saying. I think 2KSports may have doomed this franchises with what they put out the last few years.

mulder, there is vertually nil chance of the Show going to 360 since it is made by Sony which has an interest in keeping people buying their system, and system-exclusive games are a very good way of dong that.

That said, I hope this fixes the first base bag most of all. Besides that, the outfielders catching the ball and not just missing it if you accidently have left stick the wrong me or are a millimeter off.

I hope this fixes the game, because I've held off buying it so far, and owning the 360, there's no other Baseball game out there. Cmon bring the show to the 360!!!
