im a big boxing fan and former boxer, but MMA fighters do have skill. I much prefer boxing and it does have more finesse and flair, but MMA fighters such as JSP or Anderson Silva are very skilled at what they do. Theres alot of technique in the ground aspects, I find it boring to watch aswell but thats because i don't like wrestling, its not because its crap and talentless. Its similar to liking basketball over american football, or soccer over rugby, its all just personal opinion. And OK if Chuck Liddell jumped in a boxing ring against a decent fighter then he wouldnt land a punch, but if even Mayweather stepped in the Octagon against JSP he would get punished by leg kicks and taken down and wrestled, and he'd lose.

I know I am posting too much but I am passionate on the topic of Boxing compared to UFC. A lot of folks say that UFC is taking all the attention from Boxing and that boxing is falling off the planet. I am one who is loyal to the sport of boxing and really dislikes this MMA crap. Yea its bloodier, its more dangerous, but no MMA fighter has anything that is close to the smooth, finesse that boxing has. And when these UFC guys drop back to box, its sloppy and slow as all hell. I see UFC as brutes who just roll around on the floor and crush guys between their thighs. During one fight I watched, an entire round was taken up by a fighter who was attempting to lift the other by his crotch. I can't take it anymore, MMA is a bore.

I can't complain too much though, a 50 man roster is a vast improvement over Round 3's 26. There is still a ton of great options to choose from, but who the hell is Arementa? and why is Tommy Morrison included and Rocky Marciano left out? More people wondered about Ali vs. Marciano than Ali vs. Tyson. they should of put a few more heavyweights that historically match up with Tyson. How about Holyfield or Holmes? They have Eddie Chambers, but no Ken Norton. And to switch to the topic of whats missing from welterweight and lightweight, where in the world is Margarito, De La Hoya, Trinidad, Luis Castillo, Pryor, or Arguello?

on the website: Worthplaying.com there is a "Preliminary" full-roster of 50 fighters. Unfortunately, there is no Mayweather! I am pissed that out of all these fighters they haven't included the pound for pound best. WHY! Maybe it is because Floyd is bankrupt and is requesting too much of a payday for his likeness. This is just preliminary so I hope to god they include him in the last seconds. If they don't, this reminds me of not being able to play as Michael Jordan in all of those old basketball games.

obviously some boxers are going to be left out. can't we create boxers? with the collective efforts of all of us couldn;t we create an accurate looking created fighter, style, ranked appropriately? if we got it right could we share throught the EA sports locker?
i say we vote on rankings to ensure created fighters are accurate and fair to use in online play...i volunteer to coordinate the effort

Decent roster release. However, it would be foolish to comment badly but praise the good boxers they have released so far. Now, when they release a full roster and Mayweather, Bowe, Villa, Hearns, and Duran aren't in the roster...then imma be pissed, very pissed.

  • jsmoke03

    Posted Apr 27, 2009 11:55 am GMT

give me mayweather, berto, hagler, hearns, duran, willie pep, aaron prior, sweet pea, joe louis, arguello, monzon, prince naseem, kelley, riddick bowe, pancho villa, flash elorde, jack johnson, henry armstrong, jack dempsey...omg i name of a million people that can replace half of this roster release...

  • jsmoke03

    Posted Apr 27, 2009 11:51 am GMT

omg this was a bad roster release. agustus (who i've known to be one of the fighters for awhile) is a cult following 90% of the people are not going to recognize (hearns, hagler, joe louis would have been what i was hoping for) cintron is on the downhill of his career....beat by margarito (ok so it was controversial) and should have lost that fight to sergio martinez. cory spinx hasn't been relevant in 5-6 years...or whenever he lost to zab judah. pacman, hatton, cotto are great additions, nate campbell and winky are decent, but not to the calibur that i was hoping for....its looking like a don king video game
