Christmas in June has arrived, as playable code of NCAA Football 10 was dropped on my desk today. Over the next few weeks, I'll be writing as much as possible on the game as we prepare for its release in mid-July. In the meantime, if you've got questions about the game, your favorite team or players, or anything else NCAA 10-related, put them in the comments below and I'll be glad to answer as many of them as I possibly can.

One caveat to the above: All information on Road to Glory mode is under embargo until June 29 so I won't be able to answer anything about it until then. Other than that, fire away!

Question. Does this game still look the same as last years?

What is up with EA Sports developers! After all these years on the new consoles there are still no no refs on the field, no coach on the sidelines, no halftime presentation (of any sort), instant replays are bland, (I could go on and on), and why not update the graphics like they did on Madden last year? Looks like I'll be playing NFL2K5 again this year!

so do you have to pay for the recruiting reports?

Brian, If this has been answered just tell me and I'll look for the answer. But can you develop a new pipeline state through good recruiting over a period of years or is the only way to get a new pipeline state using the boost and paying for it via a microtransaction? If the only way to get a new pipeline state is to get it via microtransaction I'm not buying it just out of protest. It's wrong for EA Sports to take things that were in previous games and make them microtransactions in this year's game.

I really don't see any noticeable improvement in the graphics and player models. I hope it's worth the sixty bucks.

@BrianEk.... Did they or will they put a top 10 plays of the week like a sports center... It seems they already can rate a play so this would be very neat!

hey could you see why they dont have the leg bands because i think that customization in a football game is key because when i create a player i want to dress him like i do when i get ready to play and plus it would be cool to dress like percy harvin wit leg bands

Have the addressed the looming issue of being able to sit a QB back and then run him out of the pocket for deep gains consistently in live play. Since NCAA Football inception, there doesn't ever appear to have a defense that can stop people from continously using their QB in this fashion.

Do you know anything about the trophies for the PS3 version of the game? Will they be the same as the 360 achievements? Is there one for preordering?

I'm wondering what the Nebraska Quarterback Depth Chart is on NCAA 10. I saw a video that made me wonder how accurate the rosters are going to be this season for my huskers (last year was way off in many spots)?

@Roadkillmes -- Nessler said my name and he did pronounce it correctly.

Please... for the love of all that is free and right... have these major douchebags record new commentary. This is about the fourth year in a row with nearly the same reused lines?? Either fire these idiots if they dont want to make the time to get in the booth and record new lines and hire like Dan Fouts or something or go 2K and get unknown voices that will probably sound a hell of a lot better and more fluid. I dont think any fan of this game actually really care who the commentators are as long as its not horrid. But please... inject some new blood...

Hey... my most important question... in last years game a person could take a halfback or athlete with like 95 speed and like 99 acceleration and put them at defensive end.... which meant anytime you tried to pass you were instantly sacked in like 2 seconds... and it was pretty much the gayest thing ever... is that still going to be allowed in this years game?

How's the Grass in 2010? J/K... I remember that being a big deal for some reason one year.

I'm curious if NCAA FB and Madden for that matter are finally going to EXPAND the playbook and add a few trick plays and more reverses etc... The Playbook needs more creative plays.

I'm just looking for more, if any, detail about changes to Campus Legend Mode. More activities would be nice and my biggest problem I would like to have fixed...being able to leave camera as default. I avoided playing a defensive player because not being able to see all angles made things worse for me. At least through in the camera switch option for people like me and for people who don't mind it. Thank you.

This is a little off the topic at hand, but has anybody else had difficulty using Teambuilder.com for this game? I haven't been able to do jack-squat on the site- I'd like to create a team for when the game is released, but it doesn't seem to work.

@PongOwnsyou -- Recruiting is very similar to last year but does have a few important changes. First up, of course, are the microtransaction features I talk about here:

    http://www.gamespot.com/sports/blogs/sports-blog/909097139/26917627/ncaa-football-10-microtransactions-in-dynasty-mode.html

Beyond that, there's some interface improvements that help out. For example, each time you call a recruit (not quickcall, mind you), you'll see a meter associated with that day's phone call. The idea is to fill it up by pitching your program--it's a nice tangible view of your progress (better than the smiling/frowning football from years past). In addition, you'll see specific numeric values for each pitch you make to a recruit. So, a lost interest pitch might just earn you +2 or +4 points, while a "very high" or "most" pitch will earn you +24 or more. It's not that "different" from last year, in fact, just more clearly presented.

    Posted Jun 15, 2009 10:02 am PT

@BrianEk -- Yes Auburn will have attempt #2 at running the spread, this time Gus Malzahn's version, so I assume it would be similar to the Tulsa playbook from last year.

Sorry I've been away guys. Thanks to those who picked up the slack and answered some questions. Now, let's get to some answers:

@geaux321 -- The default AU offensive playbook still seems to be the spread. Are we even running that anymore now that Franklin has departed?

@Beesters -- The commentary is still Corso and Herbstreit and they've added some new comments here and there but, yes, much of it is recycled.

@Superblaine -- Yes, you can do both those uni combos for Arizona.

@The_Roadkillmes -- Not sure if your name is in there (mainly b/c I don't know your name) but mine definitely made it.

Oh yea and sometimes Defensive linemen will have on the wrong stuff. How are you going to put a receiver face mask on a defensive linemen?lol Thats not even realistic. I know gameplay is important but I still think you guys could have added a little more. Now Madden...they are doing it big this year.

  • Carvis15

    Posted Jun 15, 2009 8:46 am PT

Its ok but when are you guys going to take it to the extreme and let the players have actual Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour apparel. I see players looking weird with ankle socks. Nobody wears ankle socks in football. It is either mid nike, adidas, or under armour socks. Plus some players look corny. I saw a wide receiver on the Florida Gators with some big huge elbow pads...dude is ugly LOL. Let me ask you guys a question. Do you actually watch college football? Your players look corny on NCAA sometimes. I know EA can do better with the appearance....unless you are saving all of the good stuff for later.

I actually have two questions, if you could answer either it would be apprciated. 1. Is there going to be any update to the campus legend mode?..This mode is fun but does get repetitive by your junior year...

    2. Is there any update to the recruiting in dynasty? I found the new recruiting mode somewhat difficult.

Will there be any form of gang tackling in ncaa 10? Will there be more schools?? Will there be any sort of atmosphere change that actually matters? Will I be able to name my team and hear the actually name? I am tired of hearing "The Home Team" or "The Away Team". If you are putting this much emphasis on team creation, make it matter...

You mentioned that it is playable code, and I'm assuming they'll get the players right because there are several #'s on the Auburn team that aren't there anymore.
Also, what did they have as the default playbook for Auburn's offense?
