Hilary Duff, David Bowie jamming in Band Hero

Activision teases out 21 more playable tracks for 360, PS3, PS2, Wii edition of family-oriented rhythm game, nine different tunes for DS.

Guitar Hero 5 has been on retail shelves for only a few short weeks, but Activision will soon be giving it some family-targeted company in the form of Band Hero. Today, the publisher unveiled 21 more tracks for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2 versions of the game, as well as nine separate tunes for the drum-pad-equipped DS Lite installment. Both the console and portable installments of Band Hero are due for release on November 3.

New tracks announced for the console edition of Band Hero run the gamut from David Bowie's early-'80s pop/dance hit "Let's Dance" to contemporary bubble-gum pop like Hilary Duff's "So Yesterday." Other notable tracks announced today as coming to the console version of Band Hero include Fall Out Boy's "Sugar, We're Goin' Down," Evanescence's "Bring Met to Life," Marvin Gaye's "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," and Styx's "Mr. Roboto."

Likewise, Band Hero on the DS picked up tracks both classic and modern today. The nine tracks announced today include the Foo Fighters' "Monkey Wrench," The All-American Rejects' "Believe," and Sublime's "All You Need."

    Who is Taylor Swift?

    Why the hell do you morons care that a video game is made where the target audience is not you? It used to be that people showed they didn't care for a game by not buying it but now you have to deal with endless whining by people who won't shut up about how much they hate a game idea. We're sorry the world doesn't revolve around you. We'll get right back on making only games that you will love.

    Guess the only thing on this game thats going to save it is DLC, That tracklist wont last anybody more then a few hours.... then you will have to sing along to the songs you either dont know or cant stand listening to....

    I am into Pop/R&B songs and even i think that is a horrible track list.

    i personally think this game will work out just fine. you're never gonna get a game in which you like every song, but there looks to be something in it for most tastes.

    i think alot of the songs will be good fun to sing and play along to!

    i do have one question though as I noticed there is a console list of songs and a ds list of songs, does anyone know if they will be different or if the exclusives will later be made as DLC, as i don't have a ds but wanted the vines get free in a game like this for ages

    It should carry an age label, for the uh... slightly older generation i.e. 15 plus (As an estimation). Saying: "Warning for little children, not suitable for adults."

    Sarcasm off.

    This games just a big corporate suck job. They're just putting this out to rip off the TRL watching pre-teen crowd.

    @tremor33
    We all have different tastes in music. I tend to have a...more...varying taste, let's just say. I love most metals, I tend to like J-pop and J-rock, and uh yeah... I'll shut up now.

  • tremor33

    Posted Oct 5, 2009 1:25 pm PT

    @FF_fan2004

    Like I said... the majority. I strive to have a pretty eclectic taste in music, but there's certain things (mostly buble-gum pop, and emo) that I just can't get into. Granted, every genre has at least a few catchy songs, but this game gives neither the style or substance the 1st guitar hero had.

    I'm personally more into Hip-Hop and electronica, but I can't even fathom getting DJ Hero either. Activision has no taste in music... or maybe the general public has no taste in music and Activision is just catering to them... Either way, no sale for me

  • FF_fan2004

    I think I've got a better alternative. Don't buy the game at all. I most certainly won't.

  • LordBaphomet

    Posted Oct 5, 2009 11:38 am PT

    I was already sick of music games after the first Guitar Hero, but jeeeezus christ this game looks like a regurgitated pre-teen oriented nightmare. I wouldn't even want my 7-year old nephew playing this, for fear of him developing crappy taste in music.

  • FF_fan2004

    Posted Oct 5, 2009 11:06 am PT

    @tremor33
    Feel free to name and shame, I'm not pre-teen ha ha! I'm not even teen either. And I'm done bashing other peoples' music and accept that my taste in metal of any form but not emos are my objective tastes.

  • tremor33

    Posted Oct 5, 2009 11:02 am PT

    I hate the majority of the songs up there. It's not that I have never listened to them... I just hate their music.

    (doesn't name any specific names because I don't want to deal with the backlash of pre-teens defending their immature musical choices)

    @karn3n

    You saw them live at Download too? Did you think Slipknot, Faith No More, Def Leppard, Opeth, Dir En Grey, Down, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, Dream Theater, DevilDriver and Journey were good too? I thought every single one of them were awesome.

    And just because you don't like Lacuna Coil doesn't mean I don't have to hate it. I love the meaning behind the lyrics. But then again, the same goes for Leaves' Eyes, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica and Tyr. I love European Bands and more specifically Metal in the Viking's lands.

    @ FF_fan2004

    Lacuna Coil is terrible. I saw them live too. They don't play music, they hum into microphones.

    And yeah, I listen to emo metal and all kinds of metal, so don't give me stuff about it, they're terrible.

    But hey, yay for "Sugar We're Going Down" =)

  • FF_fan2004

    How dare they put Lacuna Coil in the DS version! I like the DS, don't get me wrong. But to put one of my favourite bands in a DS game is beyond Sacrilige!

    I have personally seen Lacuna Coil on stage playing at Donington Park's Download Festival of 2009. They made me the happiest girl ever to exist that no amount of anti-depresants can do that. The punitive might of the DS is pure and utter injustice to all good rock and metal musics out there!

    If Lacuna Coil, Megadeth and other awesome Metal bands (and not those stupid Emo, Glam wannabe metal bands) are to be on a Guitar Hero or Rockband game; it should be through playing those squeaky Fisher-Price instruments, that actually make you feel like you are playing a band!

    Oh Activision, how you whore your franchises out until they are but Disney-infused shams of their former selves. I'm waiting for Zac Efron to appear in a Call of Duty game now.

    From Guitar Hero to Guitar Zero. Sorry, that really was a very bad and very tasteless joke.

    I thought that the first Guitar Hero was really good because it had mainly the good heavy rock and some good metals.

    Activision is clearly trying to approach the other 'gamers' in the market. If you guys don't like it, some people would actually do.

    But for me... Guitar Hero and Rock Band are all I need. Activision really is trying to cash out money from us... or other people..
