Fallout 3 GOTY edition, PS3 DLC dated
Broken Steel arrives on PSN Sept. 24, other four add-ons in early Oct.; multiplatform, DLC-inclusive edition drops Oct. 13, free 360 theme coming Oct. 1.
Bethesda Softworks is readying a series of releases in the run up to the one-year anniversary of Fallout 3's October 28 launch. On October 13, the developer and publisher will release the Game of the Year Edition of the critically acclaimed postnuclear role-playing game. Available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, the new version will include all five expansion packs previously released on the latter two platforms in one package. The console versions will go for $59.99, while the PC iteration will cost $49.99
Fallout 3 PS3 owners who don't want to wait until Oct. 13 will be able to download the DLC pack starting next Thursday, September 24. The well-reviewed Broken Steel, which raises the level cap to 30 and extends the game's main storyline, will be out first, followed on Oct. 1 by Operation Anchorage and The Pitt. On October 8, the final two add-on packs--the tepidly received Mothership Zeta and the more acclaimed Point Lookout--will arrive on Sony's service. Bethesda is also readying an update that will fix some lingering issues with the PS3 version of the game.
Finally, the recently litigious Bethesda is offering a reward to Xbox 360 owners who bought all five Fallout 3 DLC packs. On October 1, the company will release a premium Xbox 360 dashboard theme based on the game. Those who paid MSP 4,000 ($50) for the extra content will receive the theme gratis via a virtual token provided by Microsoft. It will be available to everyone else for MSP 240 ($3).
