Full 2009, Q1 2010 Wii and DS slates revealed

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, New Super Mario Bros. among top third- and first-party titles to hit Nintendo platforms through next March; Super Mario Galaxy 2 not out until Q2 2010--at the earliest.

Yesterday, Nintendo attached a release date to one of its more anticipated titles slated to arrive this year, saying Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks will arrive for the DS on December 7. However, that's just one of scads of new titles headed to Nintendo's handheld and top-selling Wii through the rest of 2009 and into the first part of 2010, as the publisher this week offered a comprehensive look at its upcoming lineup.

Notably, Nintendo's accounting, which is listed in full below, reveals that Activision will be slightly altering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's title on the Wii. As confirmed for GameSpot by Activision, Call of Duty on the Wii will bear the suffix Modern Warfare: Reflex when it launches November 10.

Nintendo's list also offered by omission a few interesting tidbits about its own upcoming titles. Namely, the publisher has yet to attach a date to New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which was announced with a holiday 2009 release window during the publisher's Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009 press conference. Another E3 2009, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is absent entirely from Nintendo's fiscal-year rundown, indicating the game won't be out after April 1, 2010.

What's this about a new Castelvania for wiiware? That sounds interesting, although for the actual wii, two on rail shooters, a mario game and silent hill, dosen't look ttoo promising. Specially since new super mario wii will probably last for an afternoon, it'll be one awesome afternoon though?

It just struck me that the waiting game is a giant staple in the Nintendo fan practice. Plus, while the competition gets a bunch of core games, Nintendo has about as much to offer for anyone with a meaty schedule. I'm seriously questioning the meaning of a Nintendo gamer because to sustain an all-Nintendo lifestyle in this era of gaming you'd have to devote 5 or 6 hours to games a day for about a week before you enter a couple months hibernation until the next offering came about. There's plenty of other stuff to do and if coupled with a Nintendo-only diet it's still possible to find time to relax or try and get a tricky pickup in Zero Mission or something. That works for me, but you might have some other reasons for all that ****... ^_^

Isnt that awesome? Thats why I traded mine in, because a wii is worth $52.50, and for those who own the Wii and another system and are making an argument about how much you play your Wii, do you really play your Wii as much as you say you do? Are you in denial like I was when I first got one, trying to justify why you just dropped 250 on a big, white paperweight?

Zelda, hopefully-improved Crystal Chronicles, Resident Evil, Dead Space, Kingdom Hearts... I almost care that the rest exist. I don't see why everyone's so interested in New Super Mario Bros... Looks pretty dull to me.

@TheVGDude: Ubisoft makes a lot of rubbish period. Note that my picks are Nintendo, Square, Capcom, and EA games, and Ubisoft has like 20 times the number of games those four companies have coming up combined. Yeah, fail Ubi, fail. Although admittedly, the Capcom and EA are on-rails shooters...

i remember a year ago when i wanted a wii so bad, but my parents wouldn't get me one for christmas. Now i realize how much it sucks, and i am glad i got a xbox 360. I looked at the top games list for the wii and they are all subpar nintendo exclusives that i have played and got sick of in like 1/2 hour, or ports from the PLAYSTATION 2!!!!

    @armyof1jjk
Fortune Magazine actually had a research about Wii's manufacturing costs. The console itself cost about 50$ and the Wiimote only 2,50$. That was in 2008 and I bet that the costs are even lower now. It's funny when they sell the wiimote for over 20 times the manufacturing costs

Like mikeethedude said, people love to pick on Nintendo. The 2 past generations people were all like "waaah Nintendo only has Nintendo gaaaaames", well, now they have 3rd party games and people keep complaining.

About the games themselves: I don't get what's the big deal with lots of sh*tty releases.I only look at the "good" games, and there's over 7 games in this list, which is over my budget. That's good enough for me.

It seems as though no one remembers the playstation 2's list of games. 97% of their list is and was total junk. Not only did that system succeed; it did well enough to warrant making a playstation 3. The long mediocre list just means that Nintendo is finally getting the third party attention they have needed for a long time. Sure a lot of it is not suited for most gamers here, but those developers will find a niche and bring the big N some untapped new gamers.

There is just as much junk on M$ and Sony's systems and only a handful of decent games. It's all what you want out of your system. I have a nice PC for playing pretty much any game other than Mario or Zelda so as far as I am concerned the PS3 and 360 are fairly weak PC's without monitors.

MNBeta03: "When you water down you system with crap like 95% of the list its bad for your rep. I'm not saying there aren't some great Wii games but this is the reason the WIi wont ever get the hardcore gamer audience."

What, exactly, is a "hardcore gamer", and why doesn't the Wii appeal to them? I seriously want to know, because I consider myself a "hardcore gamer" -- hell, I started playing games in the days they could only be found in arcades -- and I think the Wii is a fantastic system with no shortage of quality games to hold my interest. So who are these "hardcore gamers" that the Wii supposedly doesn't appeal to?

I also think it's ironic that as recently as 5-years ago, owning a console was pretty much the identifying characteristic of a "casual gamer" ("PCs are too expensive and complicated!" was their rallying cry), but now, apparently, you can call yourself "hardcore" if you happen to own the _right_ console. It's all gotten a bit silly, if you ask me.

While I agree that none of these games are really appealing to me, I think if you were to list out the remaining PS3 or XBox360 lineup you'd still see a large amount of licensed crap like on this list. The other two systems just have more, for lack of a better word, "serious" games to balance things out.

Seriously, I am a huge Ninty fan, I have always supported them because of what has historicly been the best first party games. Thats all changed, they have let down the core consumer who carried them from there to here. They have had ample time to release new content with some substance and have failed at every turn. I have played Mario in every iteration they could come up with and I am bored with it. I will not buy any of their crap anymore. If you can't support your own system with anything but wii fit, then you are destined to fail. Its a shame because they had such loyal fans but not anymore.

This list is the equivalent to a large pile of (begins with an s) with a few undigested kernels of sweet corn thrown in there (really liking NHL 2K10 on the surface - better graphics, WMP capability, and a classic control scheme in case that sucks....also antsy for SMBWii).

When you water down you system with crap like 95% of the list its bad for your rep. I'm not saying there aren't some great Wii games but this is the reason the WIi wont ever get the hardcore gamer audience. Many of us would prefer one or two epic games a year with long term payabllity to a few pretty decent games and loads of crap.

Agreed. Nintendo will likely again be the publisher to develop the best-selling titles of the Wii's remaining 2009 slate.

The only thing that caught my eye one that list was "Jambo Safari!". I used to love that Sega game in the arcade, and honestly it would be fun on Wii. But besides the Mario games, that's it, sigh.

people should think of the Wii as a hard core gaming system! it has some really good titles like Mario, Zelda, Metroid prime, and Smash Bros. haven't played the Conduit yet. looks fun!

FFCC, and New Super Mario is what I'm looking forward to with my Wii. Zelda is what I'm looking forward to on my DS.
