Microsoft delivered a bit of good news for racing fans looking to fire up Turn 10's upcoming Forza Motorsport 3 today, saying development has wrapped and the game has gone gold. The bad news, of course, is that gamers won't be getting the game any earlier, as Forza 3 is still slated to arrive for the Xbox 360 on October 27 in North America, with the Asian and European rollouts set for October 22 and 23, respectively.

Along with the gold announcement, Microsoft also announced that a demo for Forza 3 will be available through Xbox Live on September 24. The sampler has five vehicles from which gamers can choose: the 2007 Porsche #80 Flying Lizard 911 GT3-RSR, the 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro, the 2009 Ferrari California, the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR, and the 2009 Mini John Cooper Works.

Gamers will be able to race their vehicles on the Camino Viejo track. Reminiscent of the Montserrat region on the outskirts of Barcelona, Spain, the track sees players winding through rugged mountain terrain. The free trial will also let gamers check out the full cockpit view, and it also incorporates the game's rewind feature.
