$200 Gran Turismo PSP bundle coming Oct. 20

Limited edition will include silver PSP, game UMD, 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo; downloadable bonuses include Corvette, PSN movie, 10-song voucher.

Though Gran Turismo for the PSP is launching alongside the PSP Go on October 1, PSP-less fans wishing to pick it up may want to wait. Today, Sony announced a limited-edition Gran Turismo PSP Entertainment Pack will go on sale on October 20 for $199.99 in the US and C$199.99 in Canada.

As the name implies, the bundle includes Gran Turismo for the PSP (in UMD form) and a PSP--a "Mystic Silver" PSP-3000, to be exact. Also boxed in are a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo and vouchers for a series of downloadable goodies: an as-yet untitled PlayStation Network movie and a white Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, a color not available in the regular game. Bought separately, the game and handheld would cost $209.98, with 2GB Memory Stick Duos selling for as low as $13- $14 and PSN movies costing $9.99-$14.99. US residents will also get a 10-song Sony Music Pass voucher.

Today's announcement will be one of the last before Gran Turismo finally arrives on the PSP. First announced in May 2004 for a spring 2005 launch, the game has taken a long and winding road to release. After suffering several delays, the game was rolled out and given a hard release date at Sony's press briefing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this past June.

For more on why Gran Turismo took so long to get to the PSP, check out GameSpot's E3 interview with Polyphony Digital's perfectionist-in-chief, Kazunori Yamauchi.

I'm interested but not sure if its worth it with GT5 for the PS3 just around the corner, probably put that money towards a logitech G25 for my PS3 instead.

@blues94 the PSPgo doesnt have a umd drive so they would have to bundle the umd version with the 3000... maybe they'll put a voucher with the PSPgo later on

i really really wanna get this game but theres a big damn problem if you ever played a racing game on x360 or ps3 then you have used the triggers to acclerate and brake and here comes the problem psp doesnt have doesnt have the same type of triggers and acceleration and braking wouldnt be precise and thats not good considering gran turismo as a racing simulator , i dont want to worry much about it as i didnt play the game and i may be wrong when the game launchs .

sony needs to stop havin trying to give us bundles that they consider "values" b/c the reality of it they are just selling the system for the exact same price.....ppl that don't have psp would only buy a psp if the price is cheaper same goes for ps3

you think that the PSP go doesn't use the UMD anymore they would consider breaking the 1.7gb limit and make it a much larger game since we waited for so long...

PSP Go with GT for $250 would be a decent deal. At the price, it is the same price as current generation consoles. Kinda high imo.

I have a 2000 PSP model, and I plan to get a GO but only when the right bundle comes along. I waited a while for that Daxter PSP bundle. GT looks amazing but I'm for something more my style like maybe a Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep bundle.

Looks like a great bundle, but i wish Sony would stop throwing 2GB Sticks and at least move up to 4GB at the least. I have a nice collectio of 2GB Sticks now.

    @ MiiOnWii

why u comparing the price of a PSP to a PS3?

their totally different products and have a different target market.

its like saying who buys a 32GB iphone for £500 when u get get a PC or laptop for a lower price which does waaaaaay more???

    doesnt make sense does it??

    @MiiOnWii
The PS3 may cost $50 more than the PSP Go, but there's a reason to that. You need a TV for the PS3 to work, but for the PSP, you just need to buy it and you can play anywhere you want. Plus Sony said that they were going to keep ad campaigns for both PSP Go and PSP. Also, if you ask me, their marketing and business plans right now are far better than Microsoft's and Nintendo's.

@punkdsk8erdude - Well retailers aren't going to push the Go since they will make no money from software sales which is where the bulk of their money comes from. A lot of the advertising for games/hardware comes from the retailers rather than the manufacturers so.......

The PSP Go will be in my hands this fall and so will that Dodge Viper in Gran Turismo!

  • MiiOnWii

    Posted Sep 3, 2009 2:14 am PT

why would sony put out a bundle with the old psp while trying to promote the new pspgo? and also $249 for the pspgo, why not pay 50 bucks more to get the ps3 slim, this is why sony is losing so much money, bad marketing and business plans.

  • monson21502

great bundle, but why not include the PSP Go instead?
Is Sony trying to compete with themselves?
Honestley, I've been seeing a ton of marketing and great reasons to buy a PSP lately, but I haven't seen anything on the PSP Go outside a few articles here on Gamespot.
    What gives?

This game looks good. You get a good game, a new 3000, and some other stuff for $200? That's a good deal. Cheaper than the psp Go!
