GTA: Chinatown Wars, Beaterator calling on iPhone

As announced earlier this month, Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Beaterator will be coming to Sony's PSP within a month of each other. Having seen overwhelming critical success on the DS in March, Chinatown Wars is slated to arrive for Sony's portable on October 20. Meanwhile, Beaterator will transcend its Web-app origins, dropping beats on the PSP September 29.

As it turns out, both of those games will also be appearing on Apple's iPhone and iPod touch this fall, a fact Rockstar Games announced today. Both titles are in development at Rockstar Leeds, the studio behind GTA: Liberty City Stories, GTA: Vice City Stories, and the DS original GTA: Chinatown Wars.

The iPhone/iPod touch installments of Chinatown Wars and Beaterator will apparently not diverge from their upcoming PSP counterparts. According to Rockstar, the Apple edition of Chinatown Wars will again pick up with Huang Lee, an up-and-coming ruffian in Liberty City's Triad crime syndicate who seeks to uncover the truth behind the suspect death of his father.

Likewise, Beaterator offers aspiring DJs "thousands" of spin-ready tunes with which to create their own beats. The game also features beats from notable hip-hop producer Timbaland, who is best known for his contributions to hip-hop acts such as Nas, Jay-Z, and Missy Elliot.

Rockstar Games did not indicate any exclusive or unique features that would be available in the iPhone and iPod touch installments of the games. Check out GameSpot's previous coverage of both Chinatown Wars and Beaterator for more information.
