ESRB rates Assassin's Creed II for DS

Ubisoft gets a T-for-Teen rating on side-scrolling action game pitting players against Templars in a Renaissance setting.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Altair Chronicles for the DS did not fare as well with reviewers as its console and PC cousins, so it wasn't incredibly surprising when Nintendo's handheld was left off the list of systems for Assassin's Creed II. However, it appears Ubisoft has been busy making a second game in its historical hit man series for the DS after all.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has updated its database with a listing for Assassin's Creed II: Discovery on the DS. Apparently a spin-off of the console and PC versions of Assassin's Creed II, Discovery is described as "a side-scrolling action game, set during the Renaissance, in which players assume the role of an assassin fighting against an enemy group known as the Templars."

The game received a T-for-Teen rating, with "violence" the only content descriptor. Beyond the standard platforming and combat, players will also be able to sneak up on targets and perform stealth kills. As of press time, a Ubisoft representative had not returned GameSpot's request for comment on the title.

Assassin's Creed II for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC will debut in stores November 17, as will the PSP spin-off Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines.

I there may have been a mistake. Even when you look at this page, it is for Bloodlines, Discover has no page on Gamestop anywhere. I really hope this is a mistake. If the DS gets another one than I am not buy Bloodlines until the PSP gets another AC game.

"Why get it on DS when you can get it on any major console? Your only paying for quarter of a whole experience."

Probably not even a quarter, more like 1/32. Actually it probably isn't even possibly comparable.

    I don't have time for hand-held spin-offs.

I just need Assassin's Creed II.

Actually, I feel as if I don't have time for any games anymore... That's why I need to stick with what counts.

How 'violent' can a DS game really be? The DS is lame anyway.

never played the chronicles one. Side scrolling action/adventure/platform actually might work well. I just hope people aren't expecting a port of the same gameplay from AC on consoles to DS. It just can't happen, plain and simple. So I think its a great idea to change it up and do something completely different, in the same universe, same characters and such, but specifically designed for the DS. I think it could work well. I'll keep my eye out.

    Posted Aug 21, 2009 1:38 am PT

Hmmm... gamespot posts a hole article to tell us what Assassin Creed 2 was rated, not the good versions that will be on Xbox or Ps but the DS. Not sure who would want to buy a dumbed down version of a great game. I wonder if gamespot will start posting articles everytime a game is rated? lol

P.s. To penguins227 who was sad about the franchise never coming to the wii dont worry all hope is not yet lost. maybe they will make altair a playable character in the next smash brothers title. Then if solid snake is in the next smash brothers to like in the last one I could finally live out my fantasy of pitting altair against solid snake with a nintedog assist. Hidden faux ring finger daggers cardboard stealth boxes and explosives in the mushroom kingdom. You know? now that I think about it that sounds pretty good........

In all fairness Im sure my little sister would want to play assassins creed 2 to. So this will give her the chance as im not letting her near my ps3 again since the last time she spilled a juice box on it. A side scrolling action game huh? I think they should go for turn based card battle game myself. or maybe a tactics rpg. with real cartooney sprites and unlockable pets. You know whats funny though? the first ds game is being somewhat ported onto iphone........I for one played the first ds game and thought it was bullocks as did anyone else who played it if there is anyone who played it out there........or am i the only one....boy do I feel silly all the sudden.so if it sucked on ds what makes anyone think it wont on iphone? Its obvious it will but its coming down the pipes anyway. Another case of over saturation. The first console game was so awesome and im sure the next will be as well and when bloodlines comes out I will have had it pre orderd for months in advance im sure but with so many corn ball spin offs im kinda reminded of a blue hedgehog who started out strong but was overplayed to the point of shear stupidity.Watch..... now that iv said that the next sonic title to come out will be sonics creed knuckles chronicles or some silly shi#.

T-rating for a game with so much intrigue that it would boggle a teenager's mind? Either ESRB has been bribed by Ubisoft or Ubisoft has dumbed down the plot so much it's a straightforward sneaker game.
