Tony Hawk Ride dev planning 'many' games for peripheral
Robomodo says a number of projects that make use of the motion-sensing skateboard controller are being considered.
Robomodo's Tony Hawk Ride didn't receive its proper unveiling until this month's Electronic Entertainment Expo, where Activision had the game and its motion-sensing skateboard controller on open display. However, a week before the trade show kicked off, one of the most pressing questions concerning Ride was seemingly answered thanks to GameStop's online database, which listed the game and its peripheral at $120 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.
That sticker price may be a tough pill to swallow for gamers, considering no other games have been announced that support the price-inflating faux skateboard. That may soon change, however. Robomodo president Joshua Tsui said in a recent interview with UK gaming site VideoGamer that a number of titles that support the peripheral are being considered.
"It's really important to us that when people buy this package that they understand that right now we're concentrating on Tony Hawk Ride, but we want to make sure that people have a good return on their investment so there are many games that are planned for this peripheral," said Tsui. "The obvious ones are snowboarding and surfing and such, but there are a lot of games that can be used with this board, and we're really excited to start working on those."
Tsui went on to note that Robomodo is approaching the motion-sensing skateboard as more of a platform than a peripheral. However, it was unclear whether Robomodo has received support from other game makers. The Chicago-based developer had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.
