The level-headed dog and the "hyperkinetic rabbit-thingy" are jumping to a new console on Wednesday when the first season of their vigilante rabble-rousing will be packaged onto the Xbox Live Arcade with the revised title Sam & Max Save the World.

Telltale Games announced yesterday that the downloadable game would retrofit the original first season, which was originally released from late 2006 to mid 2007 for the PC. Sam & Max Save the World will feature achievements, high-definition and widescreen graphic support, and updates to the game controls. The six-episode package will cost 1,600 Microsoft points ($20).

The developer also stated that the second season would be compiled and re-named Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space, and would be placed onto the arcade "in the coming months".

In Sam & Max Save the World, the two vigilante private investigators attempt to uncover a hypnotism conspiracy. The anthropomorphic duo encounters puzzles and objects throughout the game as they unfold the mysteries surrounding the conspiracy.

    Oh man that's just not enough they could have added so many more little Sam and Max tidbits. It's a shame that Microsoft's policy on arcade games is so stringent but those are the breaks I suppose. Thanks again for the info, I wasn't able to find it anywhere else.

    @pwnzord

    6 episodes should have 1000 GP, see no reason why its only 200 except its an arcade download. Its 6 achievements (completing each episode) and another 6 (1 for each episode) .

    @Junglemanchild

    Thanks for answering a question I had on Telltale games blog. I was hoping too that it would get a full 1k treatment seeing as how the price point is grand as well as the scope of the episodes.

    I enjoyed the few episodes I played on the PC but $20 is a hard sale...

    I love Sam & Max since back in the day, will buy this day 1. I prefer all my adventure games on PC, but will buy same versions on Xbox & replay them.

    definitely trying the demo before I plop down 20 smackers on an adventure game. Wallace and Gromit was only 10 a few weeks ago. I understand this is longer, but you can't return a disappointing download.

    Awesome, can't wait for this game. For some reason, I can't find any of the Sam and Max games for the Wii....weird.

    PC is always preferable for adventure games, and it bemuses me to no end that a number of adventure games (Dreamfall; W&G) have controls designed for consoles.

    Right on, I got started on this on Gametap, but ultimately never even got to finish the first episode...

    It's a definite buy for me. I love Graphic Adventure games and this was pretty cool when I messed with it on PC. Twenty dollars is pretty expensive, but I'm still going to do it. Now I just need to get Wallace and Gromit to complete my "TellTale Games" collection!

    Should have made them episodic like on the PC. We should have the choice to buy them individually piece by piece even if it costs us more in the long run. This goes against how they were sold on the PC. 400pts an episode would be ok as we could stop buying them if we didn't like them anymore. Not to mention you'd get more achievements for the expense.

    Perhaps in the future they'll break it up and sell it to us piece by piece. I prefer that model - the one they originally used on the PC.

    So, is this First Season going to run $20 bucks on Wednesday, or is it gonna' be 1600 Points ($20 dollars) for all Six Episodes together?

    I'm confused?

    They're about 3 to 4 hours a piece. $20 is a great deal for the first Season. They're fantastic.
