While scoring sensation Alexander Ovechkin has spent his entire NHL career with the Washington Capitals, hockey's human highlight reel has switched teams in a different way. 2K Sports today confirmed that it has secured Ovechkin--cover athlete of Electronic Arts' NHL 07--to front its own pucks sim, the upcoming NHL 2K10.

Ovechkin's goal celebrations are a mix of joy, anger, and perhaps a hint of terror.

Ovechkin will start promoting the game as early as next week, when he will do a public motion-capture session at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The star will be skating on a temporary outdoor rink from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. PDT with the help of motion-capture technology that 2K Sports touts as brand new and never before used.

2K Sports says the motion-capture session will be used to capture Ovechkin's "signature style" for the game. That will be no easy task, as the four-year NHL career of "Alexander the Great" has been marked by one-of-a-kind goal after one-of-a-kind goal.

NHL2K10 is expected to hit the ice this September for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 2.
