Peregrine Gaming Glove - Touch for the Win

Yes, it's a gaming glove. And no - it's not like the Power Glove.

When we first heard of the Peregrine, we didn't know what to expect. When you hear the words glove and ,controller only one thing comes to mind. The Power Glove. We all know how that went over. Fortunately, the Peregrine looks to be something totally different and a whole heck of a lot better.

The Peregrine essentially looks like a driving glove with conductive contact pads on it. Touching a finger to your palm or a part of your thumb activates a mapped command. Up to 30 of them can be preset. Two metallic areas on the thumb and a long strip on the palm act as activators for each finger.

The glove is lightweight, comes in three sizes, and can be used in conjunction with the keyboard easily.

The Peregrine isn't designed to be useful for all games. It's almost worthless for first-person shooters, but it shines in real-time strategy games, such as like StarCraft, and massively multiplayer online games, such as World of Warcraft. Trying to hunt down random keys on a keyboard can be a little difficult in the heat of battle.

A magnetic breakaway cable disconnects the glove from your computer in case you decide to walk away unexpectedly.

Preorders for the Peregrine start in July for $99, and the product ships in the fall for $129.

129$ is too much? apparently you all have generic 2button mice.
since the low end gaming mice you can get around $50(love the MX series) ive seen them upwards to the same price as this glove( ala the new Razer mice). still. its new, and weird tech. i wont get it, unless some how i try it somewhere and it blows my mind.

I wouldn't have much use for this - I don't play many RTS games.

g_max_: Chuck Norris only needs to THINK about punching someone for it to happen.

I think the real question will have something to do with Chuck Norris using it to punch someone...

This is WORSE than the powerglove, solely because it doesn't look as cool.
But no seriously I don't see myself ever using this thing.

For the people who are moaning about the price, has any new emerging technology ever been cheap? give it time and if it works then it will become more cost effective.

This looks like a really cool way to play games i would actually have to try it to see if it is any good. The price is a bummer though.

"When you hear the words glove and controller only one thing comes to mind. The Power Glove" took the words from me.

except for the price, looks really useful in games that require many shortcuts... but i cant think of how to do more than 9 with 0% chance of issues (pressing 2 sensors at the same time may trigger one sensor and then the other instead of a different thing) or coordination problems (some people actually CANT do that "hi-5" like thing spock does in star treck... imagine more complex moves)

I read the article and I'm still not sure what this thing does.

That's a pretty high price tag there, but I guess if it works (and you plan to use it all the time) it's worth it...
