Trauma Team operates on Wii

Follow-up to critically acclaimed Trauma Center series to hit US Wii in 2010; allows for play in six fields of medicine.

Though gamers may have been avoiding Atlus.com for fear of virus attacks, fans of the surgery series Trauma Center may want to take a look because the publisher has just announced a new entry in the franchise.

Since the first game was announced for the DS back in 2004, the series has spawned several titles across both the DS and Wii, though all have only allowed gamers to take on the role of a surgeon. Trauma Team, or Hospital as it will be known in Japan, currently only announced for the Wii, marks a new direction for the series as players will be able to take on the role of a general surgeon, diagnostician, emergency medical technician, orthopedic surgeon, endoscope technician, and medical examiner.

The game is also said to feature hand-drawn art, Japanese animation-inspired story sequences, and “high quality” voice acting. Atlus has not given any details on gameplay, and, in particular, how the new medical roles will differ, but more of the puzzle-based gameplay from the other games in the series is to be expected.

While the game is due for release in the US Spring 2010, a UK release date and publisher has not been announced. Atlus is set to reveal more on the title at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, so keep an eye on our E3 page for more.

Awesome. I LOVE Trauma Center, and I love the slew of new characters along with the return of Dr. Kimishima ad the new features it's got! There's only one thing I hope NEVER comes back to haunt me on TC again: NURSE ANGIE!!!

Cool... Trauma Center had some really cool gameplay elements and I really like games of this nature. My only problem with the TC series was the somewhat goofy sci-fi bent that the plot had to it... I, personally, would've rathered a straight-up medical game, but as it stands it was good.

to tell the truth, the other "careers" dont sound as exiting as opening everything like a butch-- very professional surgeon that always gives the anesthetics ¬¬

seriously, how much fun can you have diagnosing flu when you know you could be making a liver transplant?

I really enjoyed the first one on the DS and played it to death but I didn't see the point in buying the others since they they seemed to be repeating themselves, plus I wanted a little more depth. This looks like it could be the one! After having had a few goes now this should be the definitive Trauma game. I am really looking forward to it. Wow, there really are some fantastic exclusives coming out for the Wii soon. My Wii wanted games list is now starting to rival my PS3 list for quantity of games.

Awesome. Under the Knife quickly became my favorite DS title, and after I got the Wii game I loved that too. Trauma Team sounds like a step in the right direction for the series to me.

I love the Trauma Center series, Second Opinion was among one of the first games I got on the Wii, then I picked it up Under the Knife when I got my DS (which is essentially the same game) so I could play on the go. I also picked up New Blood when it came out the following year, and I just picked up Under the Knife 2 this week. Anyhow, shame we'll have to wait another year for this, but I'll be looking forward to this.

New Blood was awesome to play co-op, here's hoping this version includes co-op play as well.

Played my first Trauma Center on the Wii and loved it. I got New Blood and throught they strayed too much with the story... I got the sequel to the first TC on DS and hated having the stylus get in the way as I played it it also seemed like it did mundane operations in the middle of the story just for the sake of it.

All the options in professions in the game has me a little worried about the focus of the game. Will it just be a puzzle game with a 'doctor' skin on it? Either way, I'll end up getting it. And it appears they are going to focus on fixing the 'cheap' stills presentation layer and absence of voice acting... and that is a big plus as well.

As for the pic in the article... I'm pretty sure if you do what you are thinking you will get a 'Miss' and break your chain... no XS for you naughty doctor.

If it includes any of the crazy surgeries from Trauma Center like the GUILT virus, count me out. Those surgeries were repetitive and terrible. I want nothing but real, straight-up surgeries. Then, I would buy it.

I played Second Opinion for the Wii, and I loved it. So fun and original, and I loved the action puzzler feel to it. I've never played the other games in the series, though I do really want to because it was that good.

I was so happy when I first heard about this. It is taking an interesting approach. I'm looking forward to seeing what they're planning to do with some of the new styles of gameplay. Hopefully it will bring new variety to the game, and add different kinds of action and puzzles. I'm looking forward to seeing more, hopefully at E3, and will definitely get it when it comes out.
