Tatsunoko vs. Capcom confirmed for US, EU
Publisher's latest cross-brand fighter to be shown off alongside Marvel vs. Capcom 2 at E3 in June, will be Wii-exclusive.
Toward the end of April, Capcom laid out its plans for the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, which is set to descend upon the Los Angeles Convention Center June 1-4. Along with confirming the appearance of high-profile titles such as Lost Planet 2, Dead Rising 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and Dark Void, the publisher teased the exhibition of two mystery projects.
Today, one of those mystery titles lost its incognito status, as Capcom confirmed via its official blog that cross-brand fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars will see release in North America exclusively for the Wii. The game was originally released in December in Japan, but its release status in other regions had been called into question due to a complicated network of character-licensing issues.
Not unlike Capcom's popular Marvel vs. Street Fighter series, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars pits a number of characters from two popular franchises against one another. The game's Japanese release saw nine characters from Tatsunoko Productions' various anime franchises join the same number of fighters from Capcom's stable.
In Japan, Capcom's roster included the likes of Street Fighter greats Ryu and Chun-Li, as well as Morrigan of Darkstalkers fame, Okami's Yami, and Viewtiful Joe. The Tatsunoko roster of anime characters in Japan included Ken the Eagle and Jun the Swan from Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, Tekkaman from Tekkaman: The Space Knight, and Gold Lightan of Golden Warrior Gold Lightan.
Capcom promises to deliver more information on the US release of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars in the coming weeks leading up to E3.
Update: Capcom has since confirmed to GameSpot that the title will be coming to the Wii in Europe as well, with more details about the EU release promised at E3.
