Namco Bandai hasn't shied away from quirky games in the past, having created and released titles like Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy around the world. However, its latest quirky game, Muscle March for WiiWare, might be too quirky for release outside the Japanese publisher's home territory.

According to the official Muscle March Web site, the game lets players select from a roster of muscle-bound meatheads (including a polar bear) and control them as they chase down a thief in possession of their prized protein supplements. The thief will not be caught easily, however, breaking through walls as he strikes one of four dramatic weight-lifting poses. Players will have to match the poses with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk if they want to follow cleanly through the walls and catch up to the protein-pilfering perpetrator.

Muscle March will also include a multiplayer mode for up to four players, where players follow one another through a series of walls at ever-increasing speeds. Muscle March is set to debut on WiiWare May 26 for 800 Wii points ($8 in US currency).

As of press time, a Namco Bandai representative had not returned a request for comment on the possibility of a worldwide release for the game.

This is why Japan is such a different gauge from the US market. They make off the wall stuff we would never (by a wide margin) even think of.

"This reminds me of some videos I saw on YouTube of a Japanese gameshow. The contestants had to assume strange poses to keep from being knocked into a pool of water by walls with unusual cutouts. Search for "Human Tetris" to see them."

Whoa, you're right. It's like Hole in the Wall: The Home Version.

Who hasn't had their protein pack stolen by a random football player, and had to chase them down the streets while flexing through walls?

This game looks hilarious, I would so buy it!

Awesome! I'd rather seen developers cranking out bizarre, original stuff like this than half-baked sequels of sports games and movie/TV shovelware all of the time! I'd love to see a train of these dudes running through the background of a level in Tekken 6!!! I hope this game is slated for a North American release!

While I can't promise that I'd definitely download it, I probably would do so for the sheer zaniness of the idea and presentation to show off and make friends and family laugh as hard as I did while watching the video. Besides, even if the game ends up sucking, there are still worse things on WiiWare they can throw at us (Family Pirate Party).

Wow...that was not something I would ever buy, but I did laugh a lot. Someone must have had a severe case of sleep deprivation when they decided to make this game. Maybe this was namco trying to make a rumble roses esque game for the ladies. LOL!

LOL ... is that a polar bear! If I lived in a small town ... with no where to go on a weekend ... and had friends over ... and we had a ton of beer at the house ... and every girl we knew was ugly or not worth the time ... then maybe ... just maybe though.

I don't think they'll release this state side though

This game reminds me of Cho Aniki, a homoerotic game that also stars bodybuilders. I cannot imagine that a game like this will ever appeal to Westerners.

I saw this video this morning on another site, and here it is...about 12 hours later...and I'm still trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I don't think there are any words to describe this game.
