Dissidia: Final Fantasy PSP bundle drops August 25

Square Enix's 3D fighter packed in with Mystic Silver PSP-3000, Advent Children, 2GB memory stick launching alongside stand-alone game this fall.

Rumors are rife that Sony Computer Entertainment will use its Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference on June 3 to unveil the long-speculated PSP2. However, regardless of whether that reveal happens, the publisher isn't quite done with the current iteration of its handheld. This week, Sony announced that the limited-edition Dissidia: Final Fantasy PSP bundle will be available exclusively through GameStop on August 25, alongside the stand-alone game.

The bundle includes a number of goodies catered toward Final Fantasy fans. In addition to Square Enix's Dissidia: Final Fantasy, the bundle includes Sony Pictures' Final Fantasy VII Advent Children on UMD, a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and a Mystic Silver PSP-3000. The pack will retail for $199.99, $30 more than the standard stand-alone system price.

Dissidia features more than 20 characters from the first dozen Final Fantasy games, all of whom are called into battle by warring gods. In addition to series protagonists such as Squall, Cloud, and Tidus, the roster includes more villainous entrants such as Sephiroth. Dissidia is a 3D fighter, but the game retains Final Fantasy conventions, including summon attacks and role-playing-game-style character development.

    ugh why couldn't this bundle also have the option of including a black psp instead of a silver? I want a black one to match my ps3.

    this game is great, i hope it will have great "north american" extras like square likes to usually include. So maybe we will have some hidden characters name "zach" and "ashe" or even Agrias. who knows

    being that a memorystick that holds 16gb is only 70 dollars, and an 8 is near 30 . i might just take the 3k. the go is a cool idea though.

    I highly doubt a new PSP will come out. In this market, it just wouldn't sell enough to justify the mass expense of deploying a new product.

    Kind of strange, what with a new model of the PSP coming soon. Oh well; hopefully this game is better than Crisis Core. That was like a tech demo mixed with bad fan fiction.

    i rather buy a psp go and a dissidia game and a 2 gb memory card. rather than this bundle. its not worth it. psp 2 is coming out already...

    lame that i already bought my starwars bundle (love the look of the system but the included game (imo) sucked and no memory card or movie)
    why do all these badass bundles come out so late in a systems lifetime (i know the reason, i just refuse to accept it)

    Oh man, I totally called this. When they came out with the Final Fantasy edition PSP in Japan at the end of last year I told a friend that it was very likely that they'd release it over here since Sony owed it's RPG PSP fans some service and the PSP had yet to release any RPG bundles. Haha! I love saying "I told you so!"

    But...this still won't make me buy the 3000 series! Mwahaha! I'm not dumb enough to buy a system when they're talking about the next generation of the PSP.

    i want this game, and the system is getting closer and closer to pushing my ds to the curb. i need to check out psp2, especially cuz i have a ps3, and no doubt it will follow the rumors of download only. i'm just really interested.

    I dont think you guys get the point, the flashy PSP bundled with the FFdisidia game, isnt to make you rebuy it, its to get people who -dont- own a PSP to purchase one now. I know i would, it looks cool, and i'm jealous that i wont be able to play this game along with Crisis Core, but simply dont have the money to buy such a thing at this time, but some people do.
