What we heard: Microsoft's locking down of exclusive downloadable content for its platforms is a sore point for PlayStation 3 owners. The foremost offenders are the two Xbox 360-exclusive episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV, which Microsoft paid $25 million each for, according to a June 2007 Take-Two Interactive conference call. While the timed PlayStation 2 exclusivity on previous GTA games like Vice City and San Andreas helped that platform become the top-selling console of all time, GTAIV has sold best on the Xbox 360. In part, that success was spurred by the two 360-only expansions, the first of which, The Lost and Damned, debuted in February to strong critical praise (see below).

Still, the prayers of many PS3 owners appeared to be answered this week, when Play.tm and about four dozen other multilingual (mostly) European sites cited PSW as reporting that Lost and Damned was PS3-bound. According to Digitial Spy's summary of the article--which is not available online--Microsoft has only a "a six-month exclusivity deal for the content, which expires in August." After that, the magazine reportedly said, the "content will arrive on the PS3 once the deal has run its course."

The official story: Sony did not respond to e-mails, and Take-Two reps politely but firmly declined to comment. Microsoft, however…

Bogus or not bogus?: …issued a blunt but unequivocal statement about the prospect of a PS3 Lost and Damned. "The [GTAIV] episodes are exclusive to Xbox 360," a rep told GameSpot, officially ruling out any chance of a port. However, Take-Two Interactive's refusal to divulge sales figures for The Lost & Damned make it unclear if Microsoft paid too high a price to keep the add-ons 360-only.

    wow thats sony and rockstar for ya they said on review that episodes from liberty city would be delayed to april 13th but now lost and damned was suppose to be out yesterday watever the heck happen to that to????....also delayed i guess wow i hate 360 but they had thopse games for bout 4 months now so sony and rockstar the the hell you waitin for lmao lost and damned says out on mar 30th were the 31th get ur fingers out of ur butts btw for all ps3 user ps3 slim is a piece of crap had mine for a month now and its burned out fat ones were wayyyyy better

    Bullcrab! News today that it's actually getting released proves that companies are trying to do all they can to deceive everyone.

    I hope M$ gets a big blow under the belt for their apparent amnesia, misunderstanding of the question and lack of information that they would cite had someone ask them why they lied.

    Actually, I hope all companies (Sony, Nintendo, banks, etc) get a big blow under the belt for that. Unfortunately, we as a human race are stupid and let things like that fly... makes me wonder how in the world we abolished slavery (and somehow didn't get it back up again, seeing our indifference and ignorance)...

    It would be really awesome if PS3 gets the add ons for GTAIV , especially now that the ballad of gay tony is coming out.

    i believe the developer shot themselves in the foot making dlc exclusive for a multi-platform title. maybe the projected distribution and/or conversion costs are too high having it on PSN. just remember that gta 3 was a ps2 exclusive and eventually made it to the xbox and pc. i hope that rockstar keeps all of their options open with their future releases.

    My response to man-man-man: the thing with MGS4 is it's always been first-hand exclusive for sony. As a PS3 owner, I don't ask for a port of Gears of Wars or Halo to PS3. I know I would like that but I'm realistic about games that require to be exclusive to a system to boost sales. My gripe with GTA IV is it's been out for PS3 and Xbox360 at the same time. It's not an exclusive title so why DLC should be exclusive? At least they should've made a new episode for PS3 owners too. I'm confident though that in a few months, there will be an exclusive DLC for all GTA IV fans who own the PS3 version.

    What is Microsoft thinking?! Dont give The Lost and Damned away to the PS3 we already gave them Saints Row 2 and Dead Rising 2 at least keep this game to Xbox owners only.

    Calm down everybody,1st of all the ps3 is an awesome console with an exclusive games and content ,but u should give mcrsft a chance 2 make the x360 cool(even it's cool though),and u stole MGS4 2 be the ps3 exclusive,and mcrsft didn't say a thing,sooo please be a good gamers,don't get me wrong i have both console ,but i prefer my xbox a little{don't dream in getting the TLAD hehehehe }

    This aint a problem for me anymore cause I just won an ELITE!!!!!! But IMO tlad will eventually come to PS3. Everybody my gamertag will be OffroadXpert same as my PSN. Maybe around 3:00 (eastern standard time) just add me. All i need is my adapter, kinda stupid its not built in like PS3 but theres a down for 360. Ill be playing tlad.

    I heard GTA 4 itself costed 100 mil sooo If it did then PS3 is getting TLAD IMO.
    I just think that the way it was should be the way it always will....every GTA on a sony system. Whether it be as soon as it comes out or latter on.

    it is NOT comin to the ps3....gamspot just released news on the new episode titled GTAIV: The Ballad of Gay Tony. and they just cleared up this rumor at the end of the article.

    All GTA's Made should be on Sony because thats how its been for years!
    PS3 is better anyways But then PC is always better cause u can stick on any graphics u want to it.

    Cant wait for GTA IV Blood and a four leaf clover comes out this christmas.
