Map Pack 2 for Activision and Treyarch's critically and commercially successful Call of Duty: World at War may be in the hopper, but the first add-on content has shown no signs of stalling sales. Map Pack 1 debuted to opening-weekend sales of 1 million at the end of March, and Activision said today that the online multiplayer add-on has now been downloaded more than 2 million times worldwide on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
A $9.99 (MSP 800) download, Map Pack 1 contains three competitive multiplayer maps. On the competitive front, the pack includes Nightfire, set during the Allies' invasion of Berlin; Knee Deep, which has players attacking (and defending) a fortified Japanese outpost; and the aptly named Station, in which players do battle in an underground subway system. The pack also includes a zombie-infested co-op map that accommodates up to four players.
Last week, Activision said that Map Pack 2 will arrive for Microsoft's and Sony's platforms sometime in June. As with the first DLC pack, the add-on pack contains three competitive arenas and one zombie-themed level. Map Pack 2 will also include new units, weapons, and additional Xbox 360 achievement points/PlayStation 3 trophies. Pricing details have not yet been revealed.
