Guilty Gear developer Arc System Works has made a reputation for itself by continuing to craft painstakingly animated 2D fighting games for a genre in which even the granddaddy of them all--Street Fighter--has embraced the third dimension. Fighting fans will get to see how the studio's 2D aesthetic makes the leap into high definition when publisher Aksys Games releases Arc System Works' BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 30.

Expect plenty of screen-filling effects and special attacks.

Aksys has also unveiled a new promotion plan for the game, promising to upgrade any preorders to a limited-edition package. Beyond "collectible packaging," the limited edition of BlazBlue will include a two-disc soundtrack with 48 songs from Guilty Gear composer Daisuke Ishiwatari. Aksys points out that's 19 more tracks than were included in the Japanese release of the soundtrack.

BlazBlue preorderers will also receive a disc full of video tutorials and strategies for the game's roster of characters. The strategy sections of the video disc were created with the assistance of tournament-level players from fighting-fanatic communities such as Dustloop.com and Shoryuken.com.

According to the publisher, the preorder bonus is available through GameStop, Game Crazy, and Amazon.
