The PlayStation Network may be void of new games this week, but PlayStation 3 gamers may be able to find some comfort in the wealth of add-on content for a myriad of titles.

The latest new arrival for Media Molecule's Little Big Planet is the Heavenly Sword Mini-Pack. Available for $2.99, the Heavenly Sword pack includes costumes and stickers from Ninja Theory's PS3-exclusive action adventure of the same name. LBP owners can also pick up the Creator Pack 1, a free download which offers additional options and tutorials for the game's Creator mode.

Nippon Ichi Software's Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice will benefit from a pair of custom character packs this week. The DLC adds the characters Curtis and Prinny Curtis, and each pack is available for $1.99. As promised, EA also has on tap the first DLC for The Godfather II, which adds new weapons, a henchman, and multiplayer maps to the game.

Other new add-on content this week includes the Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom Booster Pack, which adds 25 new tile layouts for $4.99; the $2.99 South Central Vehicle Pack 2 for Midnight Club: Los Angeles; and a pair of free add-ons for Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. For Saints Row 2, gamers can pick up the Ultor Exposed pack, which adds three new co-op-enabled missions featuring adult entertainer Tera Patrick for $9.99. The $4.99 European Assault Pack adds a number of planes to Tom Clancy's HAWX, and the Holoska Adventure Pack for Sonic Unleashed can be purchased for $2.99.

Rhythm games have no shortage of new playable songs, either. Tunes from Hautewerk, REO Speedwagon, and Styx headline this week's new additions to MTV Games' Rock Band franchise, while Activision's Guitar Hero World Tour picks up a three-pack from Motorhead.

On the PSP edition of the PlayStation Store, gamers can download High Impact Games' Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, which received warm reviews upon its initial release in 2007.

PS3 needs to have a credits section, for completion of trophies, you earn credits. WIth these credits, you can buy add ons and games. That is just like xbox. Then PS3 would completely be superior to xbox and any other game system.

Where are GTA 4 add ons? These would make the game more enjoyable. The Godfather, Disgaea 3, and Folklore all have a lot of add on content.(As do others) As I have no X Box the new GTA 4 does me no good.

its good that we are getting things for big hitting games such as LBP and midnight club on the ps3 but we still need more for other games such as GTA so ps3 sales can increase.sony has AAAAALLLLOOOOOTTTTTT to do

i still dont have a good enough reason to go out and buy a PS3 yet. i borrowed my dad's PS3 for 2 weeks and played resistance 2 (the best game on the PS3 in my own opinion) and KZ2 (which, also in my own opinion, was crap) but i found myself saying, does one game justify buying a PS3? the answer: no.
and i have played (and completed, three times) MGS4 and while it was alot of fun, it got boringand the MGO was ruined by too much having to be paid for before use.
and the absense of an out of game chat system is just plain lazy. text chat? what are we in? the 1990's?
all in all, the PS3 for me is something with massive potential, but sony really needs to get its arse into gear and bring out the features that are needed (out of game voice chat system, doesnt have to be party chat/ some sort of points card i can buy at the store as i dont like using my debit card on the consoles and im sure there are alot of people feeling the same way) and then if a few games that i would enjoy that are PS3 exclusive (like, i know it wont but mass effect 2 or something similar) come out then i might be tempted to go bargin hunting.
for now, the trio of vegas 2, gears 2 and Too Human will be my staple gaming until june when a few games come out that might be good.

I hae way more PS3 exclusives than 360 exclusives.

Halo 3, Gears 2, and Fable 2 compared to Resistance 1 and 2, Killzone 2, MGS4, Uncharted, Warhawk, Moterstorm, and Ratchet and Clank.

but thats just my game library, not counting multiplatform titles. And to say that the PS3 has no solid exclusives is like saying that only a few people got the Red Rings of Death

  • PhilipO38

    To RavenSoS:

I fully agree Sony has delivered some solid exclusives, and while i prefer gaming on my 360(better done cross-platform games, Live, more exclusives i care about..ect) over my PS3, to deny the PS3 has some great exclusives is plain stupid.

And Infamous looks to be amazing as does Uncharted 2. (I'm not a FF or MGS fan, and Killzone 2 while technically good, still brought nothing new to the genre)

I'm hoping i can dust off my PS3 for some gaming once Infamous is released.

    @jtthegame316

    Metal Gear Solid 4
    LittleBigPlanet
    Killzone 2
    Resistance,
    Resistance 2
    Ninja Gaiden Sigma
    Uncharted
    Uncharted 2 (soon)
    Ratchet & Clank Future
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time (soon)
    Valkyria Chronicles
Gran Turismo 5 (for the love of god release this game already)
    God of War 3 (soon)
    inFamous (soon)

Not to mention almost certain sequels for Resistance and Killzone, a game being made by the same people who did Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and possibly Metal Gear Solid 5 if it turns out to be true and Kojima wants it to be another PS3 exclusive.

As well, notables mentions like Warhawk, Disgaea 3, and Heavenly Sword. Possibly a sequel to Warhawk called Starhawk as reported in the rumor mill on this site. I would also like to point out that despite the fact that Final Fantasy XIII is going cross-platform for Europe and North America, Final Fantasy XIII Versus remains a PS3 exclusive.

Plenty to be excited about if you own a PS3 and plenty to play already. It might not have as many worthwhile exclusives as 360 but it's catching up and their quality is undeniable.

I already had Nariko for LBP but it is cool that others will get to use her now.

Actully I just finished playing Heavenly Sword 2 days ago and I don't get the hate for it at all. It was a really good game and I really hope they make a part 2.

    I hated Heavenly Sword.

This Nariko costume isn't new either. Play.com were giving away codes for it for free to anyone who bought LBP from their site. It was a play.com exclusive. Obviously that exclusive deal has expired and Sony see it as a way of generating a little more money. It doesn't mean Sony are dedicated to HS or a sequel is planned.

  • beekayjay

    Posted Apr 24, 2009 1:18 am PT

I find it curious that Heavenly Sword is being paid homage to this late, but its great nonetheless. Everytime its mentioned, its with fondness. Maybe this move indicates sustained interest in the franchise at Sony, and we'll see a sequel sometime in the future.

Kids, would you stop complaining for one microsecond and just be thankful that companies have started to take interest in the longevity of their games? There's a lot of content for the games you like to play and this isn't the best of times for any company to be releasing free stuff. I know we all love free stuff, but give it a rest already, you all sound retarded for all your complaining. Get what interests you, others will do the same, it's that simple.
