As awesome as the caped crusader can be, the real star of the show is usually his clown prince of prime nemesis, the Joker. So while Batman: Arkham Asylum is set for release on the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3, a new exclusive Eidos announced today for Sony's system could impact a number of players' platform choices.

When Arkham Asylum hits shelves in June, PS3 users will be able to download an exclusive playable Joker from the PlayStation Network. While the single-player story mode remains a Batman-only affair, the purple-suited maniac will be available for use in challenge maps from the game.

Cowritten by Paul Dini, producer of TV's Batman: The Animated Series, the game begins when the Joker breaks out of jail and escapes to Arkham. There, he orchestrates a plan to kill Batman and wreak havoc on Gotham City with the help of unnamed accomplices. Batman: Arkham Asylum is being developed by Rocksteady Studios, the outfit behind Urban Chaos: Riot Response for the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox.

    I know a lot of people including myself who own both the ps3 and Xbox 360 and says that they barely/never play on their Xbox because they dont want to waste $50 a year (the price of a game) on online play when ps3 provides for free also you have to pay like a $100 just to get a wirless networking adapter which enables you too connect with the xbox live ur already paying for through a wireless connection. Ps3 has free online and built in wireless and so does the wii... Btw Bcm ure stuck in the past now games from both consoles share the same graphical qualities and sometimes the ps3 is better and vice versa check the graphics comparison series on gamespot...

    BMC, unless you have a verry good HD Tv and you buy lots of games for both consoles ther is no way you can say that the PS3 does bad in terms of game preformance..... maybe you should compare exclusive tittles.....like how Halo lags a lot online and Resistance dosent.... you are such a little no0b please comeback when you have something smart to say

    i own both systems and i like my xbox 360 more than my playstaion 3. However im getting this for the ps3 because of the joker. So McJamJim, are the people who think that really dumb@sses. Or are you? o_0

    Both systems are great so quit bitc**** about which is better. I prefer PS3 but thats just me.Im not rly int gta so big deal bout that. fallout3 dlc just comin out later so i can wait. plus god of war 3 gonna be great. P.S any1 who thinks being the joker will make ppl who like xbox choose ps3 are dumb@$$e$

    I personally dont want to bash either system, like most of "you" out there. I own both....I choose 360....why, not necessarily the available dlc, but the FACT that games like Fallout 3, GTA4, etc. have superior performance and graphics, and the FACT that Sony still doesnt have very many hot exclusives, on top of the FACT the ps3 is overpriced and Blu-ray never really took off.....dont get me wrong, Im waiting impatiently for God Of War 3, but it may be too little too late!

    OMFG just shut the f*** up the ps3 and 360 are both good. ps3 has the best exclusives and 360 has some exclusive dlc.

    And by the way the fallout 3 dlc is comin to ps3 it will just be later

    Sorry starwarsnut7591, but you 360 owners havent got exclusive dlc for Fallout 3 and GTA4 for long. Now Microsoft's contract with both companies has run out, ALL the content for these games you have is coming to the PS3 too.

    Sorry bud, but ps3 just doesn't do it for me. Let each man have his own opinion, and mine is that the Xbox 360 meets every thing good about the ps3, and then adds a whole lot more great stuff.

    @ G-Figure Excuse me Well um lets see here last time I checked Ps3 has Killzone 2, Little big Planet, The DLC Pain, Motorstorm and Alot of Others. PS3 doesnt Suck my Friend, Its that we PS3 players have had a late show to the party with the new Addtion of Trophies and Such. I have a 360 and the only i really prefer is the easiness of the Headsets.

    A couple of playable Joker missions doesn't exactly make up for all of ps3's suckiness. Xbox 360 will always be better. Eidos just feels bad for ps3

    LBP, Resistance (dont really like it but still popular), Motorstorm, Killzone 2, R&C: Tools of Destruction (doesnt really get the same attention but still a great game), etc

    both systems have great exclusives, you just have to look beyond the titles that get a huge marketing blitz

    I can't believe how many of you are saying "Go buy a PS3" as your answer to this. That's ridiculous. I own both the 360 and the PS3, and despite their efforts I'm still buying this on the 360. I'm all for bonuses but there is absolutely no need to make them console exclusive. I have the money to buy a copy for both, but that's not the point. There is no need to disrespect an entire audience. And that goes for all of the console exclusive content(Fallout 3 etc). Making multi-platform games means supporting them all equally in my book.

    Also of note is that it says "users will be able to download", not that it is a free download. Interesting.

    Did you know the arcade comes with just the things needed to play. No hard drive and it alone cost like $100 dollars so basically you should just buy the pro.

    People quit crying over content. For one Grand Theft Auto made its real breakthroughs on Playstation. And still take-two released it on xbox and they released exclusive content for grand theft auto. But i am sure you care about either or. besides if you love your xbox so much and the joker you should have both. But obviously you can't do so. Perhaps you should get off the internet an go make the money in order to not to deal with this problem of the exclusive wars. LMFAO...........True Gamers Adapt and persevere so get over it make some money an own both systems cause then who cares which ones best or has the exclusive.

    One system gets exclusive content and suddenly it's system wars. Actually it's system wars anyway, but thats besides the point.
    Stop complaining, exclusive content is lame in every case (I say this owning a PS3 by the way), it just divides people and makes one group of users annoyed at the game makers or rival platform. Either make a game multiplatform or make it exclusive, don't faff around with bonuses for one console.

    How do you know this? You don't even own an XBOX 360. At least the top selling game on 360 is an exclusive. PS3 doesn't have an exclusive hit the list until number three.

    So, you're speaking for all owners of GTA4? More xbox players bought GTA4 because there are more xbox owners, and xbox owners knew that they had exclusive DLC to look forward to. Also, you don't need an excuse to play GTA4. Just ask PS3 owners. GTA4 is the best selling PS3 game to date.

    Its OK to admit that you're a fanboy. So, you only own a PS3, and you love it. Its OK. I own both consoles, and like to give both of them a fair shot. I don't bag on either system. I just counter comments from people like you who are obviously one-sided.

    dont even go to hardware because it doesnt even have bluetooth or wifi built in, atleast it has USB ahahahahaha. im sure your aware of who won the format war and im also sure you know 54GB > 30GB....ouch, thats a loss of a potential 24GB of content....
    this is why more xbox players bought GTA4 because their decent games ran out or got boring......PS3 owners have a larger choice of better games with more content leading to larger replay value.

    i dont care if xbox gets the joker later on......thats the least M$ can do for charing for XBL since they dont have the decency to offer gamers dedicated servers even on their best games.

    as for the GTA4 DLC, that was a rip off, for double the price, you can get the most realistic shooter with the best hit response system, particle physics and environments, killzone 2.
    infact it was MGS4 that was nearer to GTA4 so even that would have been more worth the money.
    Anyways we also got sixaxis features for better gameplay with certain vehicles and minigames.

    PS3 also got more content for red alert thnx to blu-ray and its also getting more content for ninja giaden sigma 2 with improved graphics and more AI on screen at once, thnx to the cell.

    I realized somrthing, the Joker on the game has messed up mouth paint, the original jokers never had that messed up paint, but since Heath Ledger's role in the Dark Knight, I guess they have been trying to make the joker more darker.

    You're right, that is a small gap. The difference between sales of GTA IV on 360 and PS3 is only the entire worldwide sales of KZ2.
