New Marvel vs. Capcom 2 teased

Ask anyone who has played Capcom's classic crossover fighter Marvel vs. Capcom 2 what is most indelibly burned into his or her memories of the game, and the response might be a huge roster of more than 50 fighters; dream matchups pitting the likes of Mega Man, Ryu, and Strider against Wolverine, Spider-Man, and the Hulk; or the near-constant screen-filling insanity of the action. Then again, the response could just as easily be "that *%#$&^*% theme song."

That song, and its incessant refrain of "Take you for a ride," may be blaring anew from gamers' speakers in the not-too-distant future. In a post on Capcom's official Web site yesterday, one of the publisher's bloggers listed a variety of auctions currently being held, including one auction for something secret. Although the text of the post gives no indication of what the secret is, a picture for the item to be bid on shows the Capcom logo underneath the Web site address " tu4ar.com." Although it isn't spelled out (and what good teaser campaign ever is), tu4ar fits perfectly as shorthand for the accursed theme song's featured lyrics.

Actually visiting the site in question provides another clue. The site features a countdown clock and a variety of flags in front of a nearly black "2" on a completely black background.

This isn't the first indication that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 would be in for a rerelease. Last October, the Entertainment Software Rating Board added the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to the list of consoles for which it rated the title. That was followed up last month by a public acknowledgment from the publisher's vice president of strategic planning Christian Svensson that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was its most requested title for an HD Remix, adding that it "would be great to do."

Whatever the teaser site is for, gamers won't have to wait too long to find out. The clock is set to expire on Monday, April 27, at 6 p.m. Pacific time.

    yeah no prob man and u know what ur right they should make a snk vs. capcom 3 to dedicate to it cause that series was bad ass.

    Can only hope lag is reduced to minimum in on-line play. Timing is
    critical in this game. One millisecond of delay could mean the world
    of difference in advanced defensive countering techniques and infinite combo set-ups. It's gonna be interesting to see how veterans of the series who have mastered the dynamics of the fighting engine "Shoryuken tournament guests " for years will fair against up and coming players who may learn the game in the on-line arena. Magneto, Storm, Sent.... One of
    my fave teams... Rushdown come this summer!

    I already have it for the PS2 and would also get it as DLC because that's how much this game rocks. the only thing I would be pissed about is that my PS2 version of the game would loose value.

    On second thought, maybe there is meant to be a UK flag there, but there's some sort of blob on it that made me think it was meant to be the Australian one. Confusion reigns.

    That game better use the same engine from SF 4 with three characters per player. If not. iam not buying this. Capcom is not going to rinse and dry and toss it to us like dogs. Screw that @&*#

    Holy shat, FINNALY! I only played marvel vs capcom clash of super heroes and never MvC2. MvC was my all time favorite fighting game, I never got tired of it. I NEED TO PLAY PART 2!

    I doubt it is a HD remix (although I really hope I am wrong ) since the achievement list for this game is already out. I get the impression that achievement lists are only finalized when a game is near completion. Oh well regardless of whether or not it is a HD remix, I'll still get the game .

    Wow, If they make a HD Remix it would be super awesome since the chances of getting a MvsC 3 anytime soon are really slim because Capcom does not own the Marvel license anymore. Street Fighter 2 HD Remix was awesome by the way.

    Hell Yeah! I won’t have to play off my original disc ever again. Also Tatsunoko vs. Capcom won’t ever come to America because too many companies hold distribution rights to the characters in the game here in the states.

    ive had the soundtrack for years now. And a rerelease of the game just so i can beat fools online would be great. Sad thing is that why does everyone pick the cheap ass players like storm and magneto?

    Hopefully this will be an improved HD remix version of the dreamcast or arcade version, and not the horrible lag infested xbox1/ps2 port. Soul Calibur was also ported to xbox live arcade, but instead of porting the perfect dreamcast version they ported the arcade version which lacked all the amazing extra features. Soul Calibur on the dreamcast was one of the best fighting games on the system (besides MVC2 of course).

    i dont think there will be a MVC3 due to the fact that capcom lost the license to the marvel brand around the same time MVC2 was released, which is why the ps2 and Xbox games are rare and go for so much online. But then again maybe they got the license back.....i dont know how they could release this without it.

    I already know it's coming. There's already an official Achievement list out for it! http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/marvel-vs-capcom-2/achievements/
    We should assume the Trophy list will be identical, of course.

    I agree with cajunstrike. I hope this means that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is in the works. There are so many untapped characters right now. Quicksilver, the Fantastic 4 for instance, Dante and other from Devil May Cry. New characters from Street Fighter 4, the list goes on and on.
