Many Major League Baseball fans these days find themselves torn. They love the excitement of the recent long-ball era of inflated home-run stats, but loathe the recent revelations of inflated home-run hitters.
2K Sports' upcoming The Bigs 2 offers a feel-good alternative for these conflicted connoisseurs of baseball, featuring all the excitement of a crushing homer into the cheap seats with none of the questions about performance-enhancing drugs.
Today the publisher announced its similarly feel-good cover athlete for the game, Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder. The youngest player ever to have a 50-homer season, Fielder is known for his friendly, outgoing personality, his vegetarian diet, and his ability to launch moon shots on a regular basis (114 in three-plus seasons with Milwaukee).
Fielder's participation in The Bigs 2 isn't limited to an appearance on the cover of the game. Earlier this week, he and two of his fellow Brewers traveled to 2K Sports' offices in Novato, California, for a motion-capture session.
Opening day for The Bigs 2 is set for July 7 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Wii.
