Hothead Games' Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness - Episode One was released to positive reviews in May 2008 as one of the most expensive downloadable games available through Xbox Live. That will change for Xbox Live Gold members next week, though, as Microsoft has announced that the adventure game will headline its Deal of the Week initiatives for the month of April.

For the week of April 6, paid subscribers to Microsoft's online service can pick up PAA: Episode One for 800 Microsoft points ($10), a 50 percent discount on the mystery adventure's standard price. Episode One is the first effort from Hothead's collaboration with Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, better known as the creators of the popular webcomic Penny Arcade.

The remaining weeks in April will see discounts applied to a number of different game add-ons. For the week of April 13, the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 Co-op Collection map pack will be discounted 20 percent to 320 Microsoft points ($4). The following week, the Spyglass Hill Golf Course for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 will drop 33 percent to 400 Microsoft points ($5). Closing out the month, the NBA Live 365 Subscription add-on for NBA Live 09 will drop to 560 Microsoft points ($7), a 30 percent discount.

I picked up PAA earlier today. Great deal! (Finally, their gold membership deals have been pretty weak of late... I think I've picked up a previous one but only one.)

these week long discounts are all well and good to try and get more people on live gold .. but seriously more titles need to move into arcade hits ... it's a sorry state of affairs that i bought Prince of Persia brand new for the same price as most new XBLA games

This game was totally worth it at $20! Best XBLA ever. I can't wait for EP3 to come out.

PA is probably worth the 10 dollars since its a long game for a XBL arcade game. 6 hours minimum of gameplay for PA, decent RPG game and lots of humor. What more can you ask for in a game? From reading other ppl's respond, yea its only 1 episode but the fact is the game isn't short. So I really don't think that can be an excuse for not wanting to buy the game. For full price that can slide but for half the price, I think its a good deal for the total package of that game. I'm definitely gonna purchase after playing the demo.

I swear they discount the oddest things. It was awesome to get the Legendary Map Pack in Halo 3 for 400 points, but is anyone really playing GRAW 2 anymore?

Thanks dab198...it's sad about PS3 users though....I wanted to buy it but it's 15 $ + if I like the game ... I will surely buy the second episode so I won't forget the story ! I'm not really sure about what I saw ... it's just opinion but it seems a lot of people like the game ... maybe I should give it a try! Anyway great discount for Xbox!

I may go ahead and pick it up next week because 10 bucks sounds like the right price for me to pick it up.

Guess it's nice that they're given 'a' opportunity to get it cheaper, given PS3 users have had it released for $15 as a make-up for coming out last on the system.

Preferably, I'm just going to wait until the series is done, and sold as a discounted bundle.

Ya,there was no way I was going to buy a XBLA game for 20 bucks, but given how much people like the game and the 10 dollar discount,I'll consider it greatly. The only XBLA game I bought so far is Braid, and that's one good game

I'll be buying Penny Arcade Adventures Episode 1. Hopefully more developers will make rpgs for XBLA/ PSN.

Ya, tempting, but still pricey. I still might pick it up but everything else for the month is a complete joke. EA is smoking something, might be laced $100 bills.

I'll have to get the PAA next week then. I had wanted to check it out previously, but $20 was a bit much. Why is the TW 09 course so damn expensive. $5 for a course is still high to me. Why didn't EA release 3-4 courses for $10. Oh well, I might still get it. Just got my tax return back and there are a few DLC I had wanted to get. I like these weekly specials though. M$ should give this going indefinitely.

Definitely worth it at 800 MS points.

For 10$ it might be interesting. I played it when it was 20 on the pc and I though it was an average game (for the price, you can get better on the pc, like mass effect). If you are not a penny arcade fan, there are better way to spend your 10$ though

I bought this game for $20 when it first came out because I wanted a 2d rpg and I was actually pleasantly suprised. There was alot of stuff to collect, and the combat system was pretty decent. I actually played it nonstop over a few days until I beat it. I'm still missing 1 achievement because I have to replay the game over to get it. If you get the game, make sure if you are going for the boss achievement where you use no health items to keep doing it over until you get it because once you beat him you cannot reload your save. So I probably got a nice 12-15 hours out of the game doing the story and getting all the achievements so you should def. pick it up for $10 if you like RPG style games, fan of PA or didn't want to pay $20. The art style is cool as it feels like your playin a comic and there is alot of funny shyt.
