Last year, Capcom scored commercial and critical success with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. Developed by Backbone Entertainment and featuring visuals redrawn by Udon Comics, the downloadable game sold 250,000 copies within its first few weeks, with Capcom touting the performance as setting day-one and week-one sales records.

Those who enjoyed the game will be pleased to know that Capcom plans to continue applying the HD Remix treatment to its catalog of titles, according to Capcom's vice president of strategic planning, Christian Svensson. "Are we done doing HD Remixes? No we're not done," Svensson told UK gaming site VideoGamer. "But the next ones that we do will be even better, based on what we learned."

And, of course, the immediate question from any fan of Capcom fighting games then becomes, so what about Marvel vs. Capcom 2? "I won't say it doesn't need it," Svensson said. "Marvel would be great to do. There's obviously a fan base for it. It's probably our most requested title. Unfortunately, I wish I had news to share on that front but I don't."

In addition to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Capcom HD Remixed Super Puzzle Fighter II in 2007.

    Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on PSN and XBLA (and possibly WiiWare/VC) = $15
    Characters not unlocked at the beginning of the arcade/DC version = $5 a pop
    The look on fans' faces when they realize just how greedy CAPCOM can get = priceless

    For some reason on DC this game was super addictive played it basically all of the year 2000 but then my DC broke and I lost my games. I got a Xbox like 2004 and my friend gave me the Xbox version and it wasn't as good for some reason although it seemed the same I just didn't get that feeling that DC gave me. But yeah I would like to see this game come back to HD it couldnt hurt if it came back to gamers on new consoles.

    That would be the great if Marvel vs. Capcom 2 got the Remix. Do you know how hard it is to find this game, and if you find it, it is still $60-$70 used and Hundreds if not opened.

    if they do this marvel versus capcom 2 it will make fans buy it and keep as a collection and it will sell like crazy. just like street fighter hd remix it will have smooth buttons, great graphics, and best damn fighting moves ever but more better than street fighter because marvel vs capcom is one of those games that's really rare

    I'll just hook up my Dreamcast via a VGA cable to my Bravia LCD, wallah, Marvel vs Capcom 2 Hd remix! I actually broke out this game on my Dreamcast last week, man, this game is still lots of fun . While they're at it, they should remake a Xmen Children of the Atom.

    They don't even have to make it HD if Capcom didn't want to. Just make MVC2 glitch free and maybe some online matchmaking wouldn't hurt. I'd gladly pay a $60 price tag for it (and with Capcom's current nickel and dime system these days, I wouldn't be surprised if it were $60)

    I hate every 2D fighter I've ever played with a fiery passion, but Marvel vs. Capcom was an exception. Despite Wolverine being the world's worst button-masher (he was even banned from machines in the day) the game was still fun for me. Unfortunately, it may be a long time before they get the rights from Marvel.

    Um... why you guys gotta tease news like this that once you check it out, isn't really news at all? I clicked on this thinking Capcom was pondering their next project, instead, I just get the opinion of one of their reps about how MvC2HD would rule. Yeah, um...     The reason they can't do MvC2 in HD or never re-released this game as a Greatist Hits/Platinum Hits title is because Capcom no longer has the rights to Marvel, EA now holds the Marvel liscense.

    Wow, I didn't know it was going for that much. And I've been playing Mavel Super Hereos, X-men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Hereos vs. StreetFighter, Marvel vs. Capcom on my PS2, and Marvel vs. Capcom2 on xbox. I need to go home and put them in a steel suit case.

    One more thing, why the hell did it take so long from announcement to release of the game? That was ridiculous, if they haven't started on this remix already, I don't think we will see it until the next generation of XBox.

    Well, Marvel could very well license this game as they license different games to different companies all the time. It's just will Capcom ante up the money that they will want. A used copy of this game for ps2 goes for $79.99 so there is definitely a demand for this game. Unfortunately, I don't think it will ever see the light of day.

    I would like HD remixes of some of their other games in a compilation disc, maybe some Cadillacs and Dinosaurs or a lot of their other titles but I don't want to be gouged for pricing on XBLA. I would rather just pay one price for a compilation disc of them.

    Well i had the game for ps2 until it was violated by my sis...and buying it would be insane becuz of the prices people ask for! PCB would werk but i think it would be better playing it on the ps3 since its hooked to my hdtv-surround sound- and all that fun stuff.

    It's the most unbalanced fighter ever created. In high level competitive play like EVO or Tougeki or against anyone that's good people only choose Cable, Magneto, Sentinal and Storm out of 50+ characters. Fun game game to play but it's broken. If you have GGPO play MvC1 and you will notice how much better many characters are compared to their MvC2 version.

    I like MvC2 a lot but if they did an HDRemix I hope they make the game a lot more balanced so everyone will stop picking the same characters over and over again (looking at you Magneto, Sentinel, Storm and Cable)

    NOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!! this would be the best thing to ever happen. everyone would download this game! it would be the smartest thing capcom has ever done!! i loved this game soo much! i actually bought it used for 20 bucks and then sold it to gamestop for like 30. i was like no way did they just buy it for 30!!! then i realized that its impossible to find anywhere now and costs like 150! stupid move =[ but they HAVE to make this game!!!

    Good news from Capcom. I really hope Marvel vs. Capcom 2 becomes an HD Remix title. Another game I hope is the PS2 version of Capcom vs. SNK 2. (PS2 Version due to it being a console build + not having that EO system from the GCN version). If they make that an HD Remix title, I'll be sure to get it ASAP.

    Puzzle Fighter was ok, but not all of the art content was in HD. Fun game but the presentation could have been even better.

    In addition to Marvel vs Capcom, Capcom vs SNK would be my next dream HD remix.

    i think they wanted to see how SFIV did first i think now that they see it was succesful they have to do capcom vs marvel if they wanna make money and be the #1 game company out there then they would only be smart to do it either 2 hd remix or a 3 i would buy either/both

    forget the HD graphics it looks great as is
    change the music and add balanced online play and maybe a few more chars but thats being greedy
