Monday will see the debut of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the new version of the after-hours gabfest hosted by Conan O'Brien since 1993. With O'Brien moving on to to host the Tonight Show, new host Fallon has spent the past several months retooling the show for a more youthful audience. The former Saturday Night Live Weekend Update anchorman has been posting video blogs of his efforts and has even hired Philadelphia hip-hop group The Roots as his house band.

This past week, Fallon outlined another way he will go after the advertiser-coveted 18- to 34-year-old demographic, of which he is a member (until September, anyway). "We're younger. We're into tech stuff, gadgets, phones, video games," Fallon told MovieWeb. "We'll treat a video game premiere like a movie premiere. ... We're not going to hide the fact that people are on the Internet all day. I think a lot of shows don't really mention that. They barely touch on it."

Fallon's first show will be Monday, March 2, at 12:30 p.m. EST/PST. No word yet on which game he will feature on his show first.

I'm glad NBC is keeping Leno as he was better than Dave and Conan combined. I 've never been a fan of Conan at all. I've never found him finny in any way. So needless to say I'll watch Leno's Show the news and never watch the tonight show again.

Jimmy Fallon's First show was Meh at best but I'll give him a chance.

This show sounds all right, other than the presence of Jimmy Fallon.

Saw his first show. Meh. Wasn't impressed, but I'm willing to give him a chance. Really though... how many 'young' people watch late night tv?

Well, his guests on his first show were Robert DeNiro and Justin Timberlake with musical guest Van Morrison. Not bad.

By contrast, Conan couldn't get any big name guests early on.

Not a bad idea. Conan appealed to younger audiences and his late night was by far the best, and people should give jimmy a chance. I think he could be good because he is more of a personality than an actor so when he's himself just trying to entertain I think he could do very well. That's awsome that he wants to treat videogames like movies, except people (at least the general public) want to see big name stars.. not videogame creators.lol sorry guys lol

Kinda makes you wonder, if we're on the internet all the time, will he be netcasting?

$10 says this show tanks because he aims for the younger audience. Seeing as how we are on the internet all day, or playing games, or working night jobs, why does he think we'd watch it? Not to mention that if he aims for the younger demographic, he's going to alienate the older one because they get enough of crap geared towards kids on every other channel anyways. Then there's that part where he's not all that funny to begin with.

hopefully jimmy does a good job, he's been not working for like 3 years because of the wait of Leno's leave, and eventually nbc just decided to stop waiting. Best of luck to him man, but he better not do those really lame shenanigans that he did on snl, look up family guy joke on him for more info.

    Yeah, sorry, ATOS. My bad.

Anyway, like I wrote, Jimmy's best friend, and a friend and former coworker of mine who I still see and talk to, knows I'm an avid gamer and has told me in the past, on more than one occassion, that Jimmy is also an avid gamer.

Take that information however you will.

Crazyplayer042 Posted Feb 28, 2009 10:48 pm PT Ugh...he does look like a total nit-wit. I hate to say. If he really "knew our generation" or whatever, he wouldn't present himself like this.

dude I totally agree with you...... sad.. huh? The only thing that perked my intrest was the game premier thing...... but then again he'll probably just end up making fun of all the hardcore gamers. The spike t.v. video games always gets it wrong. Most the gamers I hang around with all have jobs believe it or not, and kids and are married.... so I can see I'm not going to be represented in either show. Just remember I have 17 grand worth of games in my collection. If that doesn't nominate me as a hardcore gamer then I don't know what will.

Frankly, we'll need to give it some time. After all, it took Conan some time to hit his stride and he rarely was on camera before Late Night. We need to go into this with an open mind. Besides, he's pandering to us. Why not give him a shot?

There's something about Jimmy Fallon that makes me want to punch him straight in the face. I don't even really have anything against him, although I don't think he's very funny either. He just seems really punchable. I wish they would have picked someone else to host the show...

FYI. Jimmy hired the producer of AoTS, so if you like that show you might like Jimmy's show. Also, Jimmy is leveraging his connetions and has a host of pretty good guests lined up, an advantage he has over Conan's early days.

BTW, I actually worked with, and am friends with, Jimmy's best friend, who is now a writer on the show. I've never met Jimmy, would never cross that boundary and ask (even though the wife is a fan because Jimmy is HUGE down in south Texas), but I hope the show is a success for my friend's sake.

I'm not sure if Jimmy Fallon is gonna be any good or not, he has potential.I'm just glad Conan is gonna be hosting The Tonight Show.He deserves it 50 times more than Leno's unfunny ass could ever hope to.After that all they gotta do is get rid of Letterman, one of the biggest dicks in Hollywood, and we will be much better off.

I'll be honest. I don't have a clue what NBC sees in Jimmy Fallon. He wasn't funny on SNL, or anything else he has done. And now they put him on his own show? He seriously must have some dirt or photographs of Lorne Michaels doing something bad to keep getting TV time.

Hmm... he was always kinda lame on Weekend Update IMHO. Not sure how he'll work out as host of Late Night. However I would like to videogames treated more respectfully like they treat movies. We'll just have to wait and see.
