Ubisoft is probably wishing it would have held over that rewind mechanic from the Sands of Time trilogy of Prince of Persia games. Today, the French publisher announced that the first content update for its recently released Prince of Persia will now arrive for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 5, having previously been scheduled for February 26.

Titled Prince of Persia Epilogue, the DLC will extend the original game with approximately three to four hours of additional gameplay. In it, gamers will delve into a new underground palace area, making use of two new techniques to traverse the depths. The prince and Elika will also benefit from new unlockable skins, which open up character models that were discarded during their prototype phase of development.

Despite the "Epilogue" title, a Ubisoft representative told GameSpot that players need not have finished the original game to access the downloadable content. Once unlocked, the character skins can be used to play through the main game, but the content pack's new powers can be used only in the added sections of the game.

Ubisoft has not yet announced a price for the Epilogue pack. For more information, check out GameSpot's review of Prince of Persia.

    this game is good but the bad things are, combat you can only fight one person at a time and no free roam fighting although the guanlet is a good idea , repetitive you keep on doing the same thing other and other again, ending i hate this ending its so sad and i saw the epilogue ending on youtube its the worst ending ever

    Dave: Hello, Hal do you read me, Hal?
    Hal: Affirmative, Dave, I read you.
    Dave: Hal, I just beat Prince of Persia PC and now I want to download the DLC Epilogue.
    Hal: I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid you can't do that.
    Dave: What's the problem?
    Hal: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
    Dave: What are you talking about, Hal?
    Hal: Ubisoft didn't release the DLC for the PC, Dave.
    Dave: &*%%$#!
    Hal: Look Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly and think things over.

    I agree with Floth. Ubisoft is just trying to make some extra cash with content that should have been in the game since the begining. Maybe It is because of the pirates, and they are trying to recover some profit by bleeding out us fans, who purchased the original game and will download the epilogue of this game, greedy MF's. I really hope Ubisoft reconsider this for the next games of the triology.

    OMG, It takes up 1GB of your hard drive for PS3 Users, I just realised, omg and i got an 80GB PS3, 50 more add ons like doze and im outta space, im only getting it for da trophies lol

    true. this add-on adds nothing to the original game, it's more like a director's cut version, fights and moves ripped off the original game.

    This add-on pack should not have existed at all.Really people, this is getting ridiculous:We pay full price for a retail game just to have some "new" dlc released merely weeks after the initial purchase...Does anyone honestly believe that this content is something original?I bet 80% of it was ready when the game shipped, it SHOULD have been in the retail product...but NO, the companies HAVE to make some extra cash, don't they?

    This week, next week, next month, Im still happy that there is even gonna be DLC for this game. Awesome! I hope DLC, that actually adds to the game time, becomes more and more common over the next year or so. I just hope its all gonna be actual additions and not just cutbacks made during development they decide to release post launch, yes Im looking at you Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

    i will not buy the game till they release a patch that will let you die. The first prince of persia, the sands of time, for the xbox is still the best PoP, i wish they release a real sequel for that game.

    3 to 4 hours doesnt really sound worth downloading compared to a dlc like the lost and damned this is febal i bet they will charge over a thosand ms points just for this aswell if its under a thousand ms points then it may be worth it

    @ BatrozX
    That would be really funny, controversial, and quite possibly the best thing (ironic combination, eh?) to happen to PC gamers, which aren't getting the DLC. At least they'll be able to hack their way to it.

    Could you imagine that the DLC would be like 400kb, and the actual content is already in the game, and you download it just to unlock that content? I would really be pissed off. But, anyway, I'm in no rush to get this DLC, I already have a lot of homework to deal with already. I'll definitely download it when it releases of course, can't miss this "epilogue".

  • MSilence

    @evezina007

    Honestly I don't DLC is that bad of a thing. There is a problem if a company decides to break apart a game in order to make more money, and I've heard of ways that DLC can even ruin an experience, but for situations like this I don't see the major issue. DLC provides companies with not only the ability to fix bugs and problems with games after they're released, but add content to games that they might have not had time to provide earlier. As consumers we don't know if they would have had the time to add this new content and make sure it worked in time for its release. And we get pissy when something is delayed. DLC has its pro's and con's, but as technology improves I doubt its going away.

    considering you pay $7-$15 bucks for movie admission (per person) and that only gets you 1-3 hours of entertainment til 3-5 months later when it comes out on DVD or Blu-ray for $20-$30... seems like it's more than reasonable compared to what we pay for other forms of entertainment

    @angelbless,

    I agree with you they should stop with there DLC concept at the end, it's the customer that pays for all a this. I don't mind paying more for maps but not for some sorts of extra content. They should include it in their games right from the start.

    instead of releasing a fake and fully commerical Prince of Persia (no tag for consoles and 2008 for pc tag proves it) and now a more commercial DLC (exclusive for consoles proves it) release a new POP like what Sands of Time or Warror Within or The Two Thrones was!
    i,m ganna hate this damn industry!
